Bear Trap, damage improvement missunderstanding

Main point: Bear Trap's tooltip says it is a spell, but doesnt get any damage bonus from items giving spell damage.

Right now I have a belt and a helmet, both giving 20% increased physical damage each, improving Bear Trap damage. But it is true that the tooltip says Bear Treap is a "Spell" so it should be improved by % spell damage also(but its not), just like Ethereal Knies, this might be a mistake from the developpers, I hope it will be corrected soon.
Bear trap is a spell, which casts a trap. The trap does not do any damage of its own.

Instead, that trap waits until someone steps on it, at which time it casts the skill 'bear trap eats you raaaargh' which is not a spell.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

The tooltip of bear trap sure is confusing. Unlike fire trap it does not deal spell damage, nor is it an attack. Spelldamage modifiers and attack modifiers don't apply to it. This is intended by the developers.
Its damage can be increased by an added fire support gem and a culling strike gem. On gear mods that increase physical damage apply (Deshret's Vise gauntlets for example); so does Oak's incr.physical damage reward.
Bear Trap is a spell, because any skill that's not an attack is a spell. It does not deal spell damage which is different. This is exactly the same as Detonate Dead, and is intentional.

You really should remove the "spell" description from the tooltip. While technically right it confuses every new player/erveryone that hasn't read the Beta Skill Feedback.

What they should do is to use different words for the damage type and the skill type. Instead of 'spell' damage, they should use 'magic' damage.

Yes, 'spell' is correct but not very helpful since nothing spell-related on the whole passive tree affects it, people get very confused with that.

Nothing wrong with traps having just 'trap', they aren't affected by cast speed, you can't put them on a spell totem, nothing that screams 'spell' about traps in general. Those that do spell damage can have 'spell' too.

Also for totems, shockwave would have just 'totem', flame would have 'spell' too. It's less confusing shockwave is affected by casting speed then being unaffected by spell damage.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Yes, we're already looking into what we want to change about this for 1.0.0 to reduce confusion.

They are. The speed at which the trap uses the skill is modified by cast speed. /nitpick
