Realistic item drops

Yep random drops are always better, RPG's Have always done this and it works great. I do no have to search all over the world for one guy that will drop the sword or armor I want, would be annoying :).
time to play some POE :)
Realistic loot tables is not for such type of games, it's spirit allows waiting of any type of drop with maybe different % of rare drops of any kinds of items. Even in sandbox games loot tables often changed to be less predictable.
To be short => More random = more fun ^^
i dont like this idea

i dont think this game needs that much realism

Hi all, hope this wasn't mentioned elsewhere, but I can't possibly read 30+ threads.

I think item drop should be "realistic": If a tiny spider drops a great polearm, I lose immersion.

And it would be great if monsters actually use the items they drop. So if you want that honking great über-sword, you have a harder time killing the previous owner.
Perhaps this should even be visible in the monster's hand? That would allow players to concentrate on the interesting monsters. Or does that take the excitement out of rare drops?

Yes because a tiny spider dropping a polearm is unbelievable, but you casting fireballs from your freaking hands isn't...

I would like this to an extent. I don't think it would lose immersion with a spider dropping huge items but I do want to see items scale to their previous owner. I NEVER want to fight a big boss and not get anything just because I got a bad roll of a die.

Probably boss-like monster need some sort of bonus drop.
But i'm not in the beta so i don't know if they already got it.
I think you are talking about Titan Quest. It was the only RPG I know that dropped items based on what weapons and armor enemies were using.

Tiny spiders should give items not bigger than they are. Gold, gems, venom potions, rings, amulets and some small weapons like knives. Explanation is spiders ate the small weapons and armors (gloves) from dead players...
TBH it would kinda ruin the different types of creatures that could be implemented into the game
How YA LIKE ME NOW!
i love the idea of the mob actually using the uber weapon it has, that was one of my favorite things about titan quest. it was always fun running into a mob and nearly getting destroyed by them, or running past them and getting a second look and see the badass weapon. I was going to mention in until i found this thread. However i dont mind polearms dropping from spiders.

The spider ate the polearm's previous owner.
I totally understand where you're coming from but they are doing the totally random "slot-machine" type drop system like other games do. Great idea though!
