Skyrim sucks

It's an exploration game. If you want actual high quality gameplay or storytelling, look elsewhere.
If you want immersion and a large world to explore, go to skyrim.

If you want high quality gameplay with a heavily detailed, but not excessively large, world and storytelling that is as deep as you make it (exploration, noticing details, reading item descriptions, talking to npcs, making connectionsm etc) then go with Dark Souls PTDE modded with DSFix.

ty. I honestly dont think it would bother that much if I had some 30% MS boots :)

and for those saying fast travel. Yeah, sure. Once you finally make it to the place first.

All in all. It is a well designed landscape. I will give them, and the modders, credit to that.

Edit. Although anytime I do want to look at some amazing detail, I tend to just load crysis 3. God that game is beautiful.

I like these open world sandbox games. Its more as an escape into a little fantasy world after another stressful day of trying to convince someone not to jump off a bridge. Can't wait for GTA 5 to hit PC. Can't wait for AS4. Can't you see the TES series/GTA influences? And the rebooted Fallout series, which is based loosely on TES concepts.

Can't get into iD games though, like Rage. For some reason their engine gives me motion sickness :(

Bethesda makes both Fallout and TES games. And owns iD.

Yeah the Crysis games are good. After playing I often feel like I'm still in its first person perspective world, noticing my hands an arms move consciously. I still load up Crysis (the first one) than the other 2 sequels. Much better open ended, tactical gameplay. And that tank battle.

POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!

I tried Planetside 2 today and after I found you can't bind keys or even change the mouse axis, I deleted it. Very disappointed.

Actually you can. I've been playing that game for a while now.

compared to morrowind or oblivion sidequests skyrim sucks hard

console controls ugh seriously ?

and the worst they removed the ability to create your own spells how lame is that ?

i used to have a jump spell which would shoot me in the air and had a feather spell which guaranteed save landing it was awesome that was my way of travelling
or a ring which did 1 dmg /permanent with those souls

skyrim couldnt reach the atmosphere of morrowind or oblvion

but todays gaming generation is cool graphic = cool game so sad

I prefer Skyrim over Oblivion.
Compared it just felt a step more into Daggerfall/Morrowind direction.
Skill/Mechanics ways anyway.

Nothing beats good old Morrowind for me, childhood game and so on.
But with a good amount of balancing mods, Skyrim gets a really fun and challenging game.

I love Skyrim and the Fallout-games.

Honestly, this entire thread disappoints me. It's really heart breaking for a gamer like me to look at his/her peers like they are aliens. I don't even understand some of the rationale you all have. Exploration?... Sanfbox?... Maybe I am a little analytical and somewhat of a definition nazi, but come on...

Here are some questions I'd like answered if some of you wouldn't mind?...

How is the distinction between "open world" and "sandbox" defined?

What is the standard one uses to qualify a game to having a "good" story?

Can you give at least 3 examples of "good" storytelling in games and explain what appealed to you?

What is the standard used to identify "good" gameplay/combat?

Do you actually enjoy Role-Playing games, or do you just like the mechanics of leveling up and customizing a character?

Skyrim has many dynamic features to it. most people don't realize that side-quests are completely dynamic or that many of the enemies/npcs/quests are randomly generated based on what you do in the game. The game experience is what you make of it.

I keep trying to push myself further. I really do. And yes, for how quite amazing the game looks with mods, the combat leaves sooo much to be desired.

This is a game I want to like. At least as a pick up here and there thing. But it seems like walk for 30 min, kill some enemies. Walk for another 30. Or if you have a horse, 20 min.

Ill keep giving it a whirl. But I just dont get why someone is forced, so far at least. To enchant items. Or use the grindstone.

Edit. And I like the idea of the level up. But even with doing side quests, I find myself not having anything to use points on.

download realism mods, better killmoves, stuff like that
i would reccomend dance of death, skyre, deadly dragons, mods like those make skyrim worth playing believe me.i was bored to death with vanilla version.downloaded all those realistic mods+lore friendly item mods+new lands/dungeons/huge questlines => game becomes 999999x more fun
Im done downloading in 2hours..

Been considering trying it out for quite a while. Now it is just a matter of figuring out how many and which mods will improve the game the way i like it!
