Resistance overkill?

ele weakness doesnt work like minus max for those who dont know....it depletes ur over cap aswell

When there is res overcap you can sitch and add gear which suits you atm (for ex. you can switch to a high flat phys and HP ring with no res to benefit your dmg, or whatever, or to accidentally find a godly stats gear that misses some resists).

I understand that most pieces of gear like rings, chests, boots, etc. are desired to roll triple resistances for godly end game gear. However, I have hit the resist cap with reasonably decent, but not gg endgame gear in most slots. Is there any reason to bother getting tri res in remaining slots now? I know certain maps have a minus max resistance affix, but having resistance overkill wouldn't mitigate that debuff one bit would it?

Triple-res gear is the easiest way to get resist cap. And if you have resists overcapped... Hey, you can equip IR/IQ item instead (including Advarius), or DPS one, or one with insane ES/Armour/Evasion. Though, item with good double resists are usually underrated.
Sure resists can easily be capped with only a few good resist-items. But that doesnt mean that resists arent useful.

you can never have enough resistence there is no such thing as too much resistence

i run 79% allresi its not much i dont play reflect maps i could but i dont know what would happen the moment i have a double reflect and a necro with a random weakness curse on me so i dont take the chance neither do i play min max maps for the same reason

i played chamber of sins yesterday with 85% allresi on a lvl 62 alt it was a cakewalk which shows how much easier the game gets with overcapped resi

how often have you seen hc ppl ripp in crematorium because they had barely capped resi which got dropped even harder with ele weakness

You can use resist-flasks to get those extra +50 resistance when you need it (e.g. when cursed by elemental weakness). Or, at least, +20-30 resists (if you use flask with mod) + at least 12% from endurance charges. If you try to beat ele weakness maps unprepared, it's your own troubles. And against common curse-mobs, just use curse-immune flask mod.

And in HC, rules are kinda different, BTW :)
As far as i know, most people died in HC just because of hard desync, and you can do nothing with it.

Raising your max resist can prove useful.

I believe raisoig your resist for minus res maps will do nothing.

Not sure about this.

Well you just said what i meant ( we agree )

Raising max res = useful
raising res above max res = not useful.

useful for elemental weakness mods on maps which offer a great quantity bonus, so its useful, just not for everyone. I keep mine in the 120's, and there are some mobs that cast elemental weakness on you, either use a flask or suffer the dmg. So it is useful

Depending on your passive tree, going crazy on the resists can basically translate to free skill points.

Pick up an extra 30% elemental resists on gear, respec out of two 15% nodes and throw them into life. I'd find that a heck of a lot more useful than not rerolling maps with else weakness.
