Need Some Bloody Gore!

:)
I love the art direction PoE is taking, however, the dark atmosphere would be further complimented by blood and guts upon enemy death - if complex animations won't find their way into the game, how about some pools of blood after a mob gets obliterated? |

Yeah we need a better decal system for blood all over the ground on death. You will notice most spells dont leave scorch marks and holes in the ground on impact. This is why. Its a piece of tech I cant wait to get my hands on!
We do need more blood and gore in our environments though yes. I like all the fluffy animals[img]http://i.imgur.com/mO8dR.png[\img]

..... cool!

On a possibly more art- and environment related note, I would like to see dead exiles hanging from trees, dead exile heads on sticks, exiles in torture-devices, and so on. All of them hella bloody affairs, of course, that's why I posted here.

Yeah im hoping to see that in the future too!. We have not really gone back over act 1 and 2 since we have been so busy on act 3. once we are done with act 3 we are apparently going to do a gore pass over of act 1.
Id personaly love to see an area like this in poe not sure if it would fit the world though (wall constructed out of body's if you cant see what it is clearly)I myself love absolute brutality in games. I bought dantes inferno purely for the awesome art of their hell. I like all the fluffy animals[img]http://i.imgur.com/mO8dR.png[\img]

I think it's plausible that a lot of exiles died in Wraeclast. Maybe their remains were stacked in some way, like what you just showed us or like the Paris catacombs. Maybe there's even a boss at the end of it. The movie Catacombs (with shannyn sossamon <3) has her running around being chased by a human/animal that was raised in the catacombs and fed only raw meat.
Maybe a boss could even chase the player(s) around while they make their way through other monsters. The boss would kill the players easily with 1 or 2 attacks if they get too close. Perhaps the bosss would use or feed off of the environment to that effect. Maybe it heals itself too by consuming the gore that makes up the walls. After making your way through you'd get to fight the boss in a more vulnerable spot. Another idea: dead exiles on spikes (or in walls) that when moused over, show their name, names of actual hardcore characters that people played with and were killed. Maybe there's a boss that has quite the collection of exiles that it killed. (a random selection from the pool of dead players it killed, refreshed over time, as he/she/it kills more players the oldest ones disappear if all his 100 spikes are taken). Or if a dead exile in the wall is consumed by the boss to heal itself, the dead exile is replaced by a new one in the next instance, and has a new name. " Maybe as a nightmare, vision, or illusion. I'm thinking of the templar trailere here. Disregard witches, aquire currency.

" I think this would actually fit pretty well in some areas. Like the Chamber of Sin. You guys have some pretty cool bosses to work with that could be redone into quite a horrific scene. |

Really cool idea with the corpse-wall - creeepy as hell, I like!
I think there should also be a very "satisfying" feeling that is evoked when monsters die at the players hand, in respect to death animation. It adds alot to the experience, especially when in the grind, that hordes are going down in a brutal manner that this dark-atmosphere evokes. i.e. diablo 2 elites gore-explosion upon death, uhmmmmhmmm! |

" This game contains magic. Villains can create whatever nefarious types of areas they want, so there are lots of ways to get things like this in game. Also: You can add an aspect of fear into this game. Being in an area that makes no sense and hits you out of nowhere (see: silent hill 1/2/3) instantly causes tension. Play some silent hill 3, and then do some creative magic with PoE and see what we come up with. Could be pretty awesome. EDIT: Cavern of anger could use a bit less water and a bit more blood, with a blood-trailed cave entrance to transition from cavern of woe Last edited by Xendran#1127 on Sep 26, 2012, 2:27:30 AM
