PoE doesn't scale items very well

I do save up my currency and use the vendors to buy Fusings and Jewellers. To play Self-Found for me doesn't exclude using the vendors. That would make no sense. Until GGG has an official formal web based trading system I'm abstaining from any trading. Right now beta PoE is not safe and almost daily I read about someone getting scammed.

A 5L item will cost you not that much. Just ask for WTB 5L Armor in the trade, and watch the offers roll in. Take the lowest. Done.

If you were on Standard I would give you one.

I guess that's the only way GGG can stretch out PoE to have a 5 to 10 year run. Make us do brain numbing farming run after farming run to get low currency that eventually adds up to Fusings and Jewellers or other higher level currency. Some of the PoE currency is so rare that once you get one you can't use it for the original purpose to enhance an item as it's too valuable to waste that way and we use it to buy better gear. The rarity of some of the currency takes crafting off the PoE table.

At your level, true, especially if you gimp yourself by playing self-found. I make an exalt every 6 hours of play after expenses (yes: play, not sitting around in trade forum all day, though obviously some trading is involved). This translates to about 70 fuses or 300 jewelers or 600 chromes, enough to do serious crafting.

It's really a shame that GGG touts PoE as better than any other arpg by having the ability to take a white item and with the right crafting currency forge it into a very powerful item.

One of the things I do is selling the proper crafting whites to people who craft with them. This morning someone bought 8 white high-level armors from me. I find them for free, sell them and pocket a profit. He crafts them, sells the results and pockets a profit. So crafting can be done.

POE is a difficult game. If you refuse to take each and every advantage you can get, you will not get much further than this. TL2 is a much better choice in that case.

In all the time I've played to get to level 68 I have only found a couple of 5 socket chest armor and no 6 socket armor yet (also makes the 6s vendor recipe 100% worthless).

I've found 3 6S on the vendor alone that I bought and flipped for 7 jewelers, and my toon is only 67. I have an entire tab of 4L at various levels that I picked up along the way. Your currency is supposed to be used to either craft new gear or trade for new gear. Take a 4L you found and alch/chaos it; or take a rare and jeweler/fuse it.

Also, make your 4L in a weaker slot than chest. That way you aren't losing out on as much defensive stats by having it be underleveled.

I've found at least three at vendors as well, only at level 59 atm (and in act 2 merci). I have 4l boots, 5s 4l chest, etc.

If you visit at all the vendors capable of having 6s (should be act 3 cruel+ I think), your chances of finding them go up.

Farming for alts to obtain jewelers + fusings is not that hard. My first thought when reading the OP was also "if you don't like the sockets/links on your chest piece, why haven't you used orbs on it to get more/better ones?"

It would in no way hurt the game to increase the stat floor on gear as long as the ceiling remains as hard to reach as it is now.

This will attract more players, who will be more likely to buy into GGG. It won't have an effect on the economy, nor will it have a relative effect on godlike gear.

There's a point where "Hey look at this ilvl 29438756239847 gear roll an ilvl 1 affix" starts to become rather ludicrous.

Actually, if you play self-found (aside from gems you need for your build) and craft, you will find the game scales very well. If you don't, you will find that items from your other characters will somehow be suited for the one you're playing.

I have rolled many characters since closed beta and none have had gear issues that I couldn't actually solve on my own. Also for posterity's sake, I reached the end of A2 Merciless at the start of Open Beta with only 1.5k Life back when EVERYONE said the game was path of Life Nodes purely on gear I found on my own.
