The Burning Monk build
Hey, just curious if anyone has stated a build like this. I haven't played much yet, as to the mind boggling theorycrafting I've gone through, but I feel like this build seems to be quite nice :)
You'll notice it's heavily fire based, block from staff, increased life/armour and a good amount of elemental resistance. Actually, I'm also going to remove the one point in the fire tree for witch and place it above that in the 30% block recovery.. Sorry for the update right after.
neat.

what are your main skills?
are you attacking melee ie: sweep, cleave, igniting blow? (or whats it called) Or are you spellcasting??? ...both? hard to tell from skillsetup, seems like...could do both. depending on items. [FORGE] Guild /view-thread/1664516

With 111 point spent it isn't realistic. Try to do it with 60-80

oh lol, was thinking of something very similar ;D
Maxed out build (i.e. 97 skill points) 'Core' build (i.e. 61 skill points) The idea is to create a (fun to play!) 'battle fire-mage'-like templar with heavy boosts to fire and elemental damage that would use: - any 2h fiery/elemental weapon, but with the possibiliy of changing to 1h and shield for extra tanking boost if necessary - use infernal blow as primary/heavy attack and leap slam/groun slam/firestorm/fireball as support AoE/range attacks - use determination and molten shell with increased buff effect passives for armour boost together with endurance cry for endurance charges - use wrath and anger for damage boost (maybe drop wrath) - use a bit of life and mana leech from warlord's mark/elemental weakness (maybe get the ring which allows for 2 curses?) - for solo play, could possibly use fire totems or rise supportive minions which would benefit from damage and armour boost Good sides: - could be a decent close-range fighter with the support of AoE/range fire spells and good team-player due to auras Predicted weaknesses: - fire/elemental resistant creatures - low mana with so many things reserved (link anger and wrath with blood magic? choose some mana increases instead of hp/armour?) - 25% cold, lightning, 40% fire resistances, would need more from items - hp and armour (there's never enough of those ;) IGN: AlCohonez, GhengizCohen Last edited by piotras#5522 on Oct 6, 2012, 10:30:04 PM

bump
the small change I would do is probably go for 1h mace + shield for elemental damage bonus, and dual wands for ranged fire spell damage bonus, so a lot of weapon slot changes probably IGN: AlCohonez, GhengizCohen Last edited by piotras#5522 on Oct 7, 2012, 12:16:45 PM

I am now playing with a fire dmg Templar build. It started off when I got The Searing Touch as a drop and wanted to try it out. Now I am using that staff (at early levels the +2lvl to fire gems gives you like 40-60% dmg increase + it has increased spell damage, fire damage and buring damage too). I also use Doedres Tenure which gives nice spell damage and Stone of Lazhwar, which evens out the casting speed decrease on those gloves. Tried using my ammys with +15% or more fire dmg and casting speed, but DPS didn't upgrade. Don't really care that much about the 50% block chance applied to spells, cause I've got almost no block. Other items are jus some nice rare items with high ES and some HP, mana and intelligence. Passives are like that at the moment -
Went for the ele dmg at start, then went straight for Minion Instability, grabbed extra minions and I can actually not even fight (tho it's pretty boring) and kill everything. As my build is very aura heavy, I went for buff bonuses pretty soon too, cause I use Purity, Clarity, Discipline and Haste. Cause of Clarity, until level 60 I had used mana potion 2 times and that was accidentaly. You only must always make sure that your max mana with auras on is atleast 2 times as much as your most expensive skill. Also, until level 50 I didn't die a single time, then died once. Killed Merciless Vaal Overlord in around 5 seconds. Very easy build to play, and all it actually needs is that staff, but after level 60+ you can replace it, I am going to replace my staff with a helm with +1 level of fire gems and 2 caster daggers with 80% global crit natively on them + some global crit rate on them as rare option and both of them have 50+% spell damage increase. If you just want to grind your way up to lvl 60+ - it is the way to go, did it in 4 days only playing after work (like 2-4 hours every day) so yeah, it's really fast to level and easy to master and there is a lot of room where to improve, I already have like 10 different ideas for tomorrows passive reset, will try not to fk up that char. Well, that was longer than expected, wanted to just explain the basics, but kinda made it long. Hope this helps some1 and if you have any questions about anything in this build (like what to do at what level), you can ask it to me, i've tried many routes, used like 50 passive reset points on this guy, so yeah. studying for GGG's C++ technical exam...
