The level 75 motivation wall
I love PoE, have a ton of fun in races and love leveling new characters and trying new builds.
However I find when I get a character to about level 70-75 my motivation to play them completely tanks because it feels like I'm not accomplishing anything by doing so. That's when leveling becomes noticably slow because you're either running Lunaris or level 66-68 maps. On top of that you really aren't getting the best drops because you don't have access to the high end maps yet. I'm not sure what a good solution would be. I just know that when I get to about the 75 mark at that point playing my character feels more like a chore than fun, so I spend time on races and stuff. The map system is an absolutely awesome end game mechanic btw, I just wish there was other stuff too I guess. Last edited by Zaqwert#4447 on Aug 16, 2013, 11:06:59 PM

I always put my character on hold when they hit mid 70s, I am waiting til new content in October when leveling above that is realistic.

" I think leveling isnt that slow until level 80+ when you can't even get 1% from catacombs/Lunaris. this is when you want MF gear and start farming for currency and engage in trading. My Craft Logs-thread/359202

I think Zaqwert pretty well hit it on the head.
I have 2 characters level 76 and 78, that I have just stopped playing for now and have started leveling another, currently level 55. I also found that it turns into a bit of a slog once you get into the mid 70's, I always seem to manage to die say once per day when you get into the mid to high 70's to a Bad rare boss or mob in a map or lag, and that wipes out my level progress for the day. Also every map I have had above level 68 never seem to drop a map, so I end back up playing with 66 maps again On another note why cant they just make all areas randomly generate between 2 below and 4 above your character level once you reach end game ? " still keep maps though for variety " Love the game though :)) |

More than a dozen retired 70-80s. Literally stopped playing the game after my last MF build, absolutely mind-numbing gameplay.

I won't disagree with you but I will say that I felt this way in every aRPG I've ever played. They just do not have good end games. There is no real difficulty progression at that point and since none of them have had a good PvP system (sorry but D2's pvp was pretty bad) gearing for PvP isn't very fun either. I view the entire genre from D1 on up as reroll over and over style games like say XCOM. You start a game, play it in a different way than before and try to win the game which in this case means being able to farm all content.

" this is why I am getting sick and tired of doing lunaris or maps like im pretty sure i will die one of the 100-200 runs needed to reach next level, and by having performance issues, I am sure I will die at least once or twice, and it just gets really ridiculous to do such thing. so MFing with iIR/IIQ and trading is what I do now.... but people seem to hate the idea of trading and prefer self found, but the self found is impossible when you can not go to lvl 75-79 maps where u can die from desync. so MFing/Trading is the way to go for me until they fix all the issues, but I dont think that would last too long, all my friends quit due to this.... I hope the act 3+ isnt just dominus and that is it... that would be very lame thing to do if that is the case. My Craft Logs-thread/359202

I got to level 77 using primary 66 and 67 maps (67 still gives you 90% exp at level 76), only used 2 68 maps when i ran out of the lower ones.
You should conserve your level 68 maps for when you reached 75. Leveling shouldn't be an issue until you reach 80, which is when you need 70 map to receive 90% exp. Alice_of_Wraeclast - Dagger CI Witch

I want to emphasize that this is not a death penalty whine thread. I love the death penalty and think it's an awesome and necessary mechanic.
I just feel like for a lot of players when you get into the mid 70's the game starts feeling more like a grind and like you aren't accomplishing much (even if you aren't dying). |

" you can do lunaris runs with 6 people until lvl 83ish, but after lvl 83 its 1% per run instead of 2%, so after lvl 83, you do need lvl 71+ maps, and that is where things get ridiculos, as you need to chisel it and yellow it and that is quite expensive thing to do. My Craft Logs-thread/359202
