What determines my zombie's base melee damage?

I don't think Melee Physical Damage and Added Fire Damage work on minions. Don't ask me why, the tooltips just don't show.

The same reason I don't believe Remote Mine work on minions. Everyone said yes but no 1 can give their source of confirmation so maybe it's just another fishing story.

immo the best set up if u want to maximize the melee dmg of your zombie is melee physical dmg ( more multiplier), multistrike (the drawback is countered at lvl 20 for a 0 quality one) and add fire in a +2 helmet.
add fire is better than faster attack cause u already got a 107% increase from multistrike, meaning that 161% more attack(20 quality) , compared to 107% is a 261/207 = nearly 26,1% increase rather than the 44.85% from a q20 add fire.
for the same kind of reason minion dmg is useless , since it is just additive with the
135% from your passive .( in the best case a q20 lvl 22 adds 94% so 329/235= 40% increased dmg). not mentioning the dmg from burning that you loose too.

Don't forget melee splash, with 7+ zombies, each one of the zombie's auto attacks will stack on another zombies auto attack. You will trigger multiple melee splashes which will result in an overall dps increase vs packs(which is the majority of maps). It is weaker for single target killing which is not a problem since bosses only take out maybe 5% of a map's total time to complete.

Also a interesting way to increase zombies would be to use bringer of rain helmet. That added phys and faster attacks allows u to free up 2 gem slots. And with blind it makes a effective 7 link

So u could put zombie-mele splash-added fire-multistrike. N make them hit supper fast and hard
