Cyclone+Double Strike?
two of the skills ive really liked to see when grouping with others, i thought it would be fun to combine them (cyclone for aoe clearing/double strike for rare mobs and such)
just wondering if this seems viable/possible? like, double strike is really good with attack speed, does cyclone scale off attack speed as well to make both benefit from stacking IAS? stuff like that |

I use those both. Might replace double strike with cyclone full time though since moving around tends to help survivability and i can sustain it through leech (damage is very close as well). My slots from double strike might be better used with auras or something else. So far, it seems viable either way. And yes it scales off of AS well (AFAIK)

Hope it works I can't view builds on this site for some reason. Goin for a CI ES Claw 1h/Shield build so I'm gonna switch out the life nodes eventually. The leech from claws is awesome. |

btw I should note that I'm not sure if this is completely viable end game but its fun so far :)

It is possible, Cyclone deals more hits with more IAS, and thus more damage. Cyclone is also really viable for endgame builds. I know Double strike is really strong as well, so I see not why it wouldn't work against single target mobs :)
I don't have a double strike build done yet, but I do got a Flicker striker, heavily speccing into IAS. You might want to follow a simuliar path.

You can very easily do this. Try some multistrike out and both really can shine.
I found though that I can achieve the same single target damage with cyclone as my single target attack, even without concentrated effect and using inreased aoe instead. But I still have my single target on a 4 link, and use it from time to time when cyclone isn't safe. I think this is a great idea, and yes fast attacks really make it more fun. I don't go too crazy with it, pick up a lot but try to only get the powerful ones, and the several powerful phys nodes, and rest is on hp and whatever my form of defenses is. |

hey, I am already playing a cyclone, multidualstrike, flicker build and wrote a short guide about it:
http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/498606/page/1#p4415661 Its really funny to watch, but I didnt hit mapping until now and don't know how much endgame viability my build has, but you can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwPN9h5QW2w |

the 2H sword looks cool!
one of the things that's really bumming me out about my ranger is how low my dps is, i mean sure i don't have 6L Lioneye's, but that's very far off and having to settle for what i can afford (duo elemental thicket bows) means i have very small hits, lots of them sure, but theyre not impactful. compared to people i see in pub games...discharge witches soloing entire mobs and one shotting them with discharge in a 6 player game with monster health scaled up...by themselves...WHAT. and of course there are lots of double strike/dual strikers who drop rare mobs in seconds compared to me struggling to kill rare mobs by myself if they have life regen, when im solo. anyway point is, 2H will do way more damage than a fast weapon with smaller damage per hit, and plus im pretty sure 2h swords have the longest range for Cyclone, right? or would it be axes/maces? or does the base item determine range not the weapon class? Anyway im gonna keep playing my ranger, now im lv74 and can do maps with groups to try t oget some wealth. ill keep researching cyclone/double strike builds and try to find a good balance between obscene DPS and enough survivability to not just beat my head against the desk XD (maybe running enfeeble or temporal chains curse+enduring cry is good if ur melee?) |
