Sword/ dagger/ axe/ mace is not balanced
I follow the selling forum and in game trade channel all the time. I also use poe explorer.
Can you please explain why my 1 hand swords roll really shit stats never seen 340+dps but there are tons of daggers and claws higher than sword. What is the logic behind this? 1 hand Sword mace and axe should be higher damage than knife or dagger. However dagger already got crit chance + 340 physical damage rolls. What the fuck. So broken I am raged and sorry if i make a useless thread.... My_Bloody_Valentine

My guess is that more sword users = less swords for sale.

Swords are faster so they get a lot more from the flat damage bonuses of auras and items, for this reason they have less base damage.
Daggers are designed to be potentially highest pure physical damage one handed weapon, via crit and have primarily single target focused skills. Swords less physical damage, more accuracy, more attack speed, more elemental damage, have better aoe skills. Maces, less raw damage but more stun, have stun focused skills. Axes have the highest base damage stats but no implicit bonus. |

Wasn't feels selling a 400 phys DPS sword few weeks back? In terms of raw dps, swords and axes should be the highest.

This all sounds like hearsay.
The base damage on the items speaks for itself. Demon Dagger: 21-83 1.2 Infernal Axe: 45-75 1.25 Nightmare Mace: 32-67 1.3 Void Sceptre (Mace): 44-66 1.2 Midnight Blade (Sword): 26-73 1.3 Harpy Rapier (Sword): 27-63 1.35 So DPS wise Dagger: 62.4 Axe: 75 Mace: 64.4 Scepter: 66 Blade: 64.4 Rapier: 60.8 So there you have it. Dagger outperforms Rapier, but Rapier is highest aspd item. Otherwise all the other options out perform. If you take into account crit, daggers can perform very well, yes. That si what they are for. But for equal rolls, assuming equal stats on tree, the axe outperforms the other options for physical dps |

It all depends. If youre crit based, rapier is a terrible choice because of low base crit. If youre not, rapier is better.
But really, it all depends on build. Who da thought? |
