Dexterity (Druid) summons skill

Lets get some dexterity based animal summoning skills like wolves, bears, snakes, or gorillas.

It could work like a spell totem except for multiple melee skills. For example you could teach your gorilla summon to use leap slam, cleave, or enduring cry, or maybe all three skills with a 4L.

A tanky gorilla would work great for your ranger.

I'm more into skills that change you into a beast.

Summoning skills need to be carefully implemented, due to already high desynch issues.

You should know what's like to team up with a minion master, let alone 2 or 3.

So, if these druid summoning skills are very limited, like 1 (bear) to 3-4 (wolf) minions max, I'm cool with that.

However, if GGG implements a max limit to how many minions a player can have at a time, there might not be an issue anymore.

I mean minions as a total, not separated by types.

So let's assume the game only lets a player control 24 minions.

Let's say with passives you can hypotetically become able to have 12 skeletons, 7 zombies, 2 spectre, 1 golem, 3 elementals, 4 wolves, 6 snakes and 1 bear = 35.

Even better, what if each type of creature occupies X slots in the player cap.
Bear and Golem might 3 slots, Spectres, Wolves and Snakes occupy 2, and skeletons and zombies occupy 1.

I suppose a limit to the number of summons a person could have would be fair. Though I would be surprised to see a build that used both types of summons that is viable. Considering the amount of gem slots it would take up would leave no room for any other skills especially if you wanted to use minion support gems. Also the nodes would be on completely different sides of the tree.

I think a Melee Attack Golem would be an awesome support gem; a Golem would essentially just be a mobile Totem that still counts against your totem limit.

However, for the most part this isn't an active skill problem, it's a passive tree problem.

I'm currently playing a Lightning Arrow summoner witch, which basically gives me that "pet-heavy ranger" feel, and it's a blast. The reason I went witch, of course, is because all the good summon nodes are in the witch area of the tree. Although I think this is a good thing in terms of focus, I think minion passives should be more spread throughout the tree; kind of like how Templar get the best weapon elemental damage cluster with Catalyse, but there are also WED nodes in the ranger area, plus the Lava Lash, Ice Bite, and Arcing Blows notables for marauder, duelist, and shadow. Using the same style, there should be more minion passives available to other classes, and witch should have the best ones, not all of them... and to be honest, the witch has easy access to too many summon passives, and it's a little OP, so make her work harder and do cross-tree stuff if she wants to get all of them!

I think a wolf microtransaction for Summon Skeletons would be a nice idea.
