Clicking vs. just holding down the key

Is there any difference between spam clicking and just holding down the key/mouse button in terms of how fast the spell can be recast? It wasn't until around lvl 25 that I realized you can just hold down the button and save yourself a bazillion clicks. For a spell like Freezing Pulse holding down mouse button is much more preferable to me than clicking especially considering it's cast time. Am I overlooking something that would make this a disadvantage?

Not really. From what I'm understand the only difference I can tell between clicking and holding is being frosty.

You know how in SCII (if not watch streams of it) they will click as fast as they can in the start (to keep lose) I'm assuming thats why anyone would do that in a ARPG as well. I do both... and cant tell a difference.

The actual advantage you get from click spamming is animation cancelling but as far as i know thats not really possible in PoE so it basically makes no difference.
