How to give items to a friend

Hello,

is the only way to give items to a char on my friends list and in the same area to drop them on the ground?
I can't find a way to give items to them directly and in town not even dropping works.

Am I missing something? What is the use of dropping items on the chat line?

At the moment, yes, dropping items out of town is the only way to transfer them. There are plans for a trade window, and eventually being able to trade directly from the forums, but those are probably gonna come closer to open beta, as there's more pressing gameplay issues than trading convenience to take care of.

As for linking items in chat, it's much easier to just link an item for people to see than to type out all of the stats to it.
