Eternal Orb mechanics question

This question may seem obvious, but as my PoE wealth is modest, I want to be sure of the answer before I burn an Eternal Orb trying it out.

Is it possible to use an Eternal orb to make an imprint of it, then chance+scour the item until it rolls the less-desired unique, use the imprint to start back over at a 6L white item (that you then, I suppose, use another Eternal Orb to make another imprint of) with which to continue chancing?

This seems perfectly logical to me, but other people I know seem to disagree.

From what I know, this is perfectly fine (as long as you're working with the same Occultist's Vestments). GL Chancing your Shavronnes!

Thanks! Anyone else?

A shame there's no way in hell to get enough people to do this (and enough to try the other way around) to get a statistical sample on which way is more economic. It hurts my curiosity.

Nope you can't!
seems like you could buy an occultist vestment for a helluva lot cheaper than an eternal.

If not - I have one I'll sell you for an eternal or exalt

edit: nvm - I see you have a 6L
