New Zealand inspired environment/monsters?

After the developers come from NZ I was wondering why they dont present more New Zealand inspired content? There are dozens of wonderful ideas just on their doorstep!
I love the Kiwi pet and it was one of the selling points for me to become a supporter!
I life in NZ myself and I love the nature and environment there, and let me tell you, it can be very gloomy and creepy in the Bush there, especially at night or in the fog in the morning...
What about a dark, moist tree-fern forest?
The haunting melodies of the Kokako-bird would be sufficiently creepy for this environment...
Monsters- I am not suggesting giant bird here- the game already has these (and I love them). I am thinking more about the awesome creepy-crawlies that NZ has.
Every ARPG game I played so far has boring spiders!
What about giant weta- running out of their holes to grab the player with their huge mandibles and ripping him apart.
Or a scolopenter- centipede. Rearing up and striking down on the player with its poison pincers?
Caves could have a cool blue glow of the NZ glow-worms, with giant cave weta lurking in the shadows...

And of course a mean Moko (Maori Facial Tatoo) for my Marauder!

Oups sorry, just zoomed in on my Marauder that I just started...and he is indeed tatooed! ;-)
Was not immediately obvious on my old labtop (integrated graphics).
In any case- it would be cool if we could by different tattoos for the characters when the games comes out!

I'm guessing the Rhoa are Moa too.

Rhoas being moas makes so much more sense than rhoas being giant, mutant, aggressive kiwis like I thought...

But giant, mutant, aggressive kiwis would make a much better movie.
