Elemental damage vs spell damage?

Stupid question:
Does elemental damage affect skills like glacial hammer and spells like frost nova? Conversely does spell damage then ONLY affect frost nova but not glacial hammer? |

Elemental damage nodes work both with spells and attacks. (Weapon elemental nodes, like Catalyse only work with attacks, tho)
Spell damage only works with spells, Glacial Hammer is an Attack. IGN: GojoMojo
