How to buff your reflect dmg?
|
Thinking about making a thorns build for the lols and I'm wondering how the reflected damage to mobs can be buffed. Increased physical dmg nodes, melee nodes, 1 handed dmg nodes, +x-y dmg on gear, etc..If anyone knows I would really appreciate it :)
Thanks in advance! My guides

Consider the type of damage your are reflecting, spell, melee damage, physical damage, their are a few differnt types.
There are lots of things to consider: Curse punishment - other curses for other damage increasing effects. Items - Bramble jack, The Anvil, A few other chests have return damage - shavs/deaths oath, some lower level ones. Some Sheilds/rare chests also have reflect damage Increased damage on low life. Molten Shell - Tempest Sheild - Alot of block Should be enough to get you thinking :) AFAIK, tempest shield/molten are spell damage and can be scaled as such, the mod on the anvil can be improved via any %phys damage increase that isnt weapon specific (ie rustic sash works, 157% phys damage on a 2H sword does not). I think you return damage as an attack or a spell on blocks depending on what you block. Im not sure of all of the mechanics but if thought about it and smiled. I pretty much agree with the post above - you would need a build with Bramblejack + anvil + lots of block with Tempest shield, maybe some really good Thorns items, that combined, you could have a pretty nice build, but I don't think it would be possible to play with ONLY reflect, tho you could try some weird ass build with 6L Tempest Shield, lots of block and also important - spell block, ofc crit would be pretty cool too for those shock stacks, tho with only Bramblejack it would be already pretty cool against Phys atk based guys.

Bramble Jack and Punishment are fairly "useless" due to monsters having high hp and doing, relatively speaking, low damage compared to their own hp.
I have a weird build that is basically block and crit - health based (marauder). I use an Anvil and Tempest Shield with a high crit chance, and have considered using a melee reflect shield, but they can't roll the mods I'd want, so I'm sticking with a spirit shield type. It would be fun, but my Temptest Shield benefits more from a spirit shield type. A CI type build could use Death's Oath to good effect, but I'm going with Infernal Mantle since I'm using Fireball. It's basically a case of: Temptest Shield (good supports are crit damage, leech, blind and so on), Arctic Armour, Molten Shell, quality Arc on a Spell Totem for shocks (though you also get this from TS) and me casting Fireball. Health regen from Anvil, TS with leech, and leech from Fireball. Enemies are constantly shocked and taking decent damage from TS, lots of Fireball crits and and Molten Shell damage. I tried an Incinerate version (where crit isn't needed, which would hurt TS), but found Incinerate annoying when it came to stuns and shield block interrupts - which were mainly due to my low health and not wanting to change my amulet/go out of my way to get stun immunity from passives. This is an EB build, running 3000 mana atm. I don't move much, so Arctic Armour is fine to use. It's all about crits, so I'm running Infernal Mantle, Voidbringer, a high crit spirit shield, a high spell crit dagger and so on. Kinda fun to run Infernal Mantle, Voidbringer and Anvil, which are usually considered not good by the hivemind. This is a build I don't want to sink currency into, so the Infernal Mantle isn't a 5/6 link, so I'm using a perhaps less than optimal Rime Gaze 4 link for my Fireball, for the free conc. I sometimes switch in Lightning Warp and port into groups for damage/shock on impact and then they'll kill themselves on reflected damage and Molten Shell. I tend to crit more often than not, which helps things along, but that kind of idea is possible, but it's obviously not a build that'll solo high level maps and so on, it's mostly a fun little project. " I think my first post wasn't clear :) I'm talking about the mods that can be rolled on gear. In total you can get 200 reflect dmg to melee attacker (50 each from chest, helm, belt and shield) and the implicit reflect on spike shields (221 to 260) maximum. What I'm interested in is how this damage can be increased if possible. Also as far as I know this mod always reflects the damage wether melee attacker hits, misses, gets blocked etc... Bramblejack only reflects damage if you actually take the damage as far as I know. TBH I ain't planning on taking much dmg :) I'm not sure what you say about Anvil is correct. I tried Anvil + facebreakers combo and it didn't work. Anyways I changed my build from armor + block to evasion/dodge + block. From what I see evasion/dodge happens before block (not 100% sure tho) which means I'm blocking less and dmg from Anvil and tempest shield happen less often. Still Anvil is a great new unique and I'm loving it :) My guides

Not exactly what Op intended, but I think the best way to go about the thorns build concept is Shavronne + Tempest shield. Go low life and boost spell damage.
I think quite a few people have done it before though, so it's not exactly a new concept even if it's not the most common. Toupy - Lv93 Facebreaker Cyclone Duelist Last edited by Myrthr#6542 on Jul 21, 2013, 12:58:48 PM

The only thing i'm 100% sure which effects the reflected damage would be shock ailment - so Tempest shield get in a reflect build beside the obvious additional damage role also the chance to be a great mechanic (especally with ele profileration) to further buff other reflected damage as well.
Curses should work as well - if a mob gets damaged by reflected physical damage and he has vulnerability on the reflect should become better (so dual curses could be interesting - punishmetn + curse to buff whatever you think that you reflect the most ;)) I think that no other modifiers influeneces reflected damage, but i might be wrong...
