Spam Chaos or spam Alteration?

Say what you want about crafting but I've found some nice stuff with alch/alteration

I don't usually use chaos unless it has nice sockets like a 5L

I do not set out for a specific type of item mods, chances are I'll just end up disappointed. I just do it to see what nice stuff I can get, and try to adept to their advantage. If my characters can't use it, I just keep them for future char.

I don't plan to break my bank crafting this wand in any way. The price's on scrubcore are INSANE tho. To get vendor trash your going to pay GCP's. Also, I'm only use Alteration's that I find, I payed 3 Chaos for the wand as a white 3L.

You guy's seem to be divided almost evenly with how to approach it. If I find a Scour I'm going to Alch it and see what happen's tho. I really didn't want to spam Chaos it unless like 90% of the feedback was Yes. I guess I'll keep trying Alteration's, Spell Damage seem's to be fairly rare tho, which I find very weird.

Maybe if I offer all of my quality gem's to RNJesus I can get some good stat's. =/

You must be very low level or not play very much to have this kind of currency crisis. Given how poor you seem to be, I’m shocked you would pay 3 chaos for a white wand. 3L is crazy easy to get on your own. Ilevel 79 is okay, but hardly necessary. The whole thing is worth maybe an Alch. Probably nothing imo.

Stop trying to craft. Immediately. In fact, stop buying much at all until you’re pretty deep into Maps. Up to level 70 or so, you should subsist mostly on things you find with minimal purchases and ZERO crafting. Crafting as a whole is a complete waste unless you’re crazy rich to start out with. Even then, you're better off crafting good maps and running them for currency you trade into items than you are trying to craft gear.

You know what stats you want, just go look it up on POExplorer and buy it outright. A few GCP is a very reasonable price for a decent wand. When you’re running maps, you should easily be making a GCP every 1-2 hours. A lot of this will come from Fusing trades. Using up all your Alts like you are is a waste. Save them up and vendor them into Fusings. 90 Fusings equals an Exalt. Just by vendoring yellows in a map group and vendoring up to Fusings, you should be able to trade into an Exalt every ~8 hours. Much faster if you find a good IIR/IIQ group and don’t have a lot of downtime. And that doesn’t even count the value of selling any good items you find.

I think you said you’ve already spent 200 Alts on it. That could have been 25 Fusings. So, you’ve already wasted ~3-4 GCP’s worth of value on this wand and have nothing to show for it.

crafting wands and daggers is very hard, since they have a massive mod pool. Thare really is no good way that i know of crafting a wand. Best of luck to yha but i would just buy 1.

for daggers and wands crafting is for when u can not buy a better 1 ( hence need a perfect wand ). So in that case alt , regal , exsult would be the method , however be prepared to have it coast u well over 20 exsults ( yha i know crazy right )

I'm not having a currency crisis at all, I would just rather not spend anything on it if possible. Also I have never bought any Alts. Infact this wand is really the only thing I have ever bought beside's some unique's that I wanted to play some different build's. I got 3 pure exlat's and about 4 in random stuff that I could sell if I put any effort into it. Bye no mean's am I in a crisis, I'm just trying to play smart. You can farm a stack of alt's in like 5 minute's if you put in any effort at all. The only Alt's I'm using are one's I find while leveling ym Witch and Ranger.
You also need to understand that the scrubcore market is DEAD. The only thing's in trade chat are like, 2 or 3 5L, MAYBE 1 6L, a ton of unique's and vendor trash rare's. It's fairly rare to see anything good in Trade Chat in my experience.

And yeah I can tell the stat pool, I keep getting very very nice Phys roll's, not top tier, but very nice. I can imagine rolling a dagger too, cus don't dagger's have the same stat pool, or close too, as Wand's?
On my witch that I have, I 1 Alch'd this, and I haven't seen anything better yet.

At the end of closed beta i used evreything i owned to attempt to craft a GG phisical crit dagger. I failed 1 full tab of alterations and i got really lucky with alteration rolls, however 34 exsulteds used. i was not abel to craft a better dagger than i had , granted i had a top 10 dagger on the server at the time. Also IMO spaming choas on a dagger is probley the best bet however it's a bad bet since it only takes 1 failed roll to "break" the craft when going for a GG dagger, and chances are u will have to use exsulteds anyways when u get 4-5 god like stats anyways so u really are not saving much.

It's a hard call when crafting items like this R&G plays a HUGE part in what happens, i payed MUCH less for a mirrored copy of the best 6 link chest on the server, with 5 off stat socket colours ( 56 GCP ) About 10 exsulteds at the time . So something to think about

Alts used are Alts used, man. It doesn't matter how you got them. The point is that you could have bought something nice for the currency you've poured into something crappy.

The market is just fine. If you're using Trade Chat to find your upgrades, you're doing it wrong. PoE.xyz and PoExplorer are, literally, thousands of times more efficient than stinting there in front of trade chat waiting for an item you want to scroll by.

The definitive answer: Both.

From white or blue, always always always spam Alts until you get something you can Regal. Then Regal; if Regal fails, spam Chaos. If everything goes according to plan you won't need Chaos, but the sad fact is things almost never go according to plan and thus Chaos will be useful.

Only junk in that system is Alchs. I normally either trade those away or just fire-and-forget them for leveling up rerolls (Alchs are actually very, very strong in Normal and Cruel, and can definitely save you time).
