what does more damage Spark or Ice Nova

I have two Level 5 gems, one for Spark and one for Ice Nova and I am wondering which should do more damage because the DPS tooltip says that ice nova does even though I have a few lightning passives applied. If someone could help me to understand this I would greatly appreciate it.

In this game dps is not all what matters..
If you choose to level up a lightning skill ( spark ) you may be able to either Shock or crit-shock, and for each shock you do to the monster, he will receive 40% more dmg. for a total of 3 shocks ( 120% more dmg ) While ice spells may Freeze, which very very usefull. It's cause the DPS only shows the damage on one spark projectile. Lightning damage range is also very wide so I won't bother to comparing the DPS to a different element attack/spell.
