Concentrated Effect damage calculation question
|
So I use Cyclone, with added fire damage and want to eventually use weapon elemental damage support gem to put the added fire damage up heaps, and just wondering if the 'more area damage' from Concentrated effect will be calculated last? IE My base phys gets % fire dmg added from fire dmg gem, then that fire dmg gets multiplied by ele dmg, then that total physical and buffed fire damage, gets multiplied by conc. effect? Will it work like that? or will the more area damage only multiply the base cyclone damage without the other damage support gems?
Basically I wanna know if it will be A)Base phys + X% of it added as fire, then that fire dmg multiplied by ele dmg, then the total dmg multiplied by conc. effect. FOR EXAMPLE 10 Base phys X 1.38 (lvl 19 fire dmg, 38%) = 13.8 (3.8 fire dmg) then the fire dmg x by 1.79 (lvl 19 weapon ele dmg, 79%) = 16.8 (6.8 fire damage), then the total damage x by 1.68 (lvl 19 conc. effect, 68%) for a final damage of 28.2 OR B)Base phys + X% of it added as fire, then that fire dmg multiplied by ele dmg, then the base physical dmg multiplied by conc. effect. and added. FOR EXAMPLE 10 Base phys X 1.38 (lvl 19 fire dmg, 38%) = 13.8 (3.8 fire dmg) then the fire dmg x by 1.79 (lvl 19 weapon ele dmg, 79%) = 16.8 (6.8 fire damage), then the base phys damage x by 1.68 (lvl 19 conc. effect, 68%) for 6.8 extra damage, and add that to the existing fire dmg + ele dmg total (16.8 + 6.8), for a final damage of 23.6 Thanks for any insight. Conc effect works on elemental damage too. So, yes, option A.
Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

can anyone else confirm that it is option A? Just wanna make sure cos ill have to do some respecing and change some items around if I am to do this, dont want to find out the hard way that it doesnt work how i wanted

It does. Rule of thumb:
(Base + Flat) * (Increased + Reduced) * More * Less -Damage Based On and Conversion are applied to the (Base + Flat) value -Damage Based On is calculated before Conversion |

Cool thanks for the reply

I'll say it's Option C
Base Phys: 10 Lv19 Added fire [38%]: 10 X 0.38 = 3.8 (10 Phys, 3.8 Fire) Lv19 WED [79% More]: 3.8 x 1.79 = 6.8 (10 Phys, 6.8 Fire) Lv19 Conc. Effect[68% More]: 16.8 x 1.68 = 28.2 (16.8 Phys, 11.4 Fire) Extra Damage from Added Fire due to increased physical damage: 6.8 x 0.38 = 2.58 Extra Damage from WED: 2.58 x 1.79 = 4.62 Total Damage: 32.82 (16.8 Phys, 16.02 Fire) |

" It's definitely not that option. If you're considering the 'increased physical damage' from the Cyclone skill, then you're right it should increase the fire damage. But - news flash - it should also increase the physical damage. Who'd have thought? You might as well just assume that the base physical damage *after* increased phys damage is 10, and use option A. Maybe I should word that differently, but I meant bonus phys damage from Conc. Effect. Since adding a Melee Physical Damage also increases fire damage, the same would applies on here.
Though I guess I can simplify it by doing it like: Base Phys: 10 Lv19 Conc. Effect on Phys[68% More]= 10 x 1.68 = 16.8 Phys Lv19 Added fire [38%]: 16.8 X 0.38 = 6.38 Fire Lv19 WED [79% More]: 6.38 x 1.79 = 11.42 Fire Lv19 Conc. Effect on Fire = 11.42 x 1.68 = 19.18 Fire.. Total Damage: 35.98 (16.8 Phys, 19.18 Fire) Ok, that doesn't add up... Must have failed somewhere.. Edit: Forgot multiple the Extra Fire damage with Conc.Effect on the previous formula. " It doesn't work like that. The conc effect doesn't increase the physical damage before you figure out the base added fire damage. You're basically applying the bonus from conc effect to the fire damage twice. (If it does work like that, then Conc effect is insanely good and everyone should use it with converted damage.) Let's say you deal 100 Physical damage, deal 50% Physical as Fire Damage, and have:
-150% Increased Physical damage -50% Increased Fire damage -50% More Physical damage -70% More Weapon Elemental damage Base Physical Damage: 100 Base Fire Damage: 100 * 0.5 = 50 Physical damage: 100 * (1 + (150/100)) * (1 + (50/100)) = 375 Physical damage Fire damage. It is based-on-Physical, so it benefits from Physical damage multipliers. 50 * (1 + (150/100) + (50/100)) * (1 + (50/100)) * (1 + (70/100)) = 382.5 Fire damage Ie. exactly as I said it worked before.
