Just installed Heroes of Might and Magic 3 again + HD mod and Horn of the abyss (Russian mod, in Russian unfortunately). But damn, I have missed Heroes 3. It's most definitely one of the greatest games of all time, and by far the best game in the series.

Anyone else who still plays the game? Horn of the Abyss is a great mod that adds a new town, so there's a lot of replay ability if you decides to install the game again. There is plans to make it English in the future.

Legendary games will never die. I also play HoMM (never stopped?) but I prefer Wake of Gods mod by far. There is bug fixes, enhancements, balance changes, expanded gameplay - so many options it'll make your head spin, so you just tick whatever sounds good and experiment. My favorite additions are New Battlefields, Fishing Wells, Warlord Banners and of course the big two - 8th Level Monsters and Stack Experience. The last one adds so much more tactical depth, it's insane. You'll be challenged whether to upgrade certain tiers, for example Veteran Gogs can strike twice instead of doing splash like Magogs.

I've tried VCMI also, it basically does the same things as that HD mod you mention. I must admit I don't really like the new towns (Cove, Forge).

Where do you get Forge?

You can't, it's a work in progress and not available for download yet. However original assets *are* available and some people have gotten it to work.

Incase you missed it's a sci-fi town that was supposed to appear in Armageddon's Blade, but the developers scrapped it because typical Heroes fans were against the idea of technology. However original assets used by New World Computing have since leaked (I linked them above for you).

Anyway when I play SoD with friends, we always ban Necropolis/Conflux. We also ban heroes starting with Diplomacy and Crag Hack :)

WoG is very enjoyable but if you dont balance the options it can easily become game-breaking, so not the best choice for competitive.

I love playing Crag Hack, so much offense :p

Yeah man, him and Gundula have brutal primary skill development, it's not even funny. 600 Ancient Behemoths with 99 Attack can crush 1000 neutral Azure Dragons.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is one of the best games ever made. It is what I've been playing while on break from PoE. I can still sit down and burn hours upon hours playing even just against the AI. I use the newest version of WoG right now, although I have almost all features turned off besides a few quality of life features. I mostly play for the original. There are a lot of awesome mods out there though.
I almost always rock Dungeon.
