Hey there,

Can you please try running a Pack Check, as there may be been a problem with the patching process.
Here is a guide for performing a Pack Check: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/18531

Also, be sure to run the game as Administrator, as sometimes permission issues can cause this problem after a patch.
Hey,

I just got the same problem. My game patched fine (by all apperances) and I've been playing for many hours since this morning. My power just went out for a few minutes however, and after booting back up and trying to launch PoE i get the same "Error opening file:" message. I do not get a Visual C++ Runtime error, however.

Running (from an elevated CMD prompt (32bit)):

C:\Games\Path of Exile>PackCheck.exe
Checking pack file Content.ggpk...

->PackCheck.exe has stopped working.

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the progrma and notify you if a solution is available. (i.e. the standard Windows app crash message).
I am getting the same error, and packcheck.exe ALSO stopped working due to an appcrash.
EDIT: Mine was related to a power flicker too....like above.

Seems like my Content.ggpk is corrupted somehow and PackCheck.exe can't handle it. If I rename my Content.ggpk to _Content.ggpk and run PackCheck.exe it works fine (of course I have to re-download all the game content again).

Hey there,

As AveiMil has said, if the Pack Check fails, you have to re-download the content.ggpk file.

Yes the Pack Check failed and i deleted Content.ggpk and downloaded data again and it works now.
