It may sound surprising, but I do ten to avoid places where people scream profanities at each other with no apparent reason.

Opening a public party and 4/5 people join with 'whore', 'fuck', 'cunt' in their names is comparable to entering a hospital for mentally ill or some drinking place for degenerated drunks.

Really, dude? A four letter word in a character name is the same as people screaming obscenities at each other? Have you ever been to a hospital for the mentally ill(if so, get your money back) or a drinking place(aka a bar)? Do you know what a sensationalist is?

Coming up with funny or clever names for my race characters really is half the fun.

If you get offended easily the internet isn't for you.

Keep the nanny state out of PoE. This is a game for adults and hardcore gamers, we don't need babysitters.

If you think a simple word is offensive I'd hate to think how you feel about:

- waterfall's made of blood
- tortured bodies strung up on racks
- wall's made of dead bodies
- projectile gore (intestines, organs, blood)
- violently killing thousands of enemies
- complete and gratuitous nudity

all these are in the game, and you're crying about a simple name? a word?



IMO, the lack of a profanity filter (names or chat) greatly contributes to the brutal atmosphere of the game. Almost like the game is saying: "You won't find shelter here, this is not an environment for the weak minded".

In fact the profanity filter allows me to really see who are the adults and who are the kids. I find that those spouting off profanities, names like "suckmycockbitch" are the kids who are obviously way too immature to be playing this game. Like it's their first time saying a cuss word...

If GGG implements a filter this game's atmosphere (one of the main draws) will be completely dead to me and many others.

"mature game" shouldn't equal "can say anything you want". If one is mature, they should be able to comprehend the fact that some things you may say are offensive, and as a mature person you should also be able to empathize with that fact and control yourself. Videogames are a place to have fun, for everyone involved. So is an amusement park. Not sure why that leads you to believe it's okay to act like a drunk.

Straw manning my statement isn't addressing it. What qualifies as maturity is subjective and I'm rejecting the version if it that says that maturity means walking on egg shells because of other people's prudish sense of decency. I specifically choose to not emphasize with people who ascribe the status of "obscene" or "offensive" to simple words. That's illogical and absurd, and not worthy of respecting. If there's an idea being communicated that is degrading, inciting violence, promoting prejudice, etc... that's an objection worth empathy and action. Decrying "naughty words" is childish and frivolous.

All this hate speech towards drunks is discriminatory.
