Best gateway for someone from Australia?
|
I'm live in Australia as well and have noticed there is a routing issue with my ISP (iiNet) and probably a fair few others to the SG server. Typically to SG servers for other games and my current TeamSpeak server it will route out through WA/Perth to SG but currently it's routing through Sydney which for some reason is incurring an additional 50ms+ along with the connection being quite unstable.
I have contacted my ISP regarding this and hope they'll be able to sort something out but worse case I'll probably just use a VPN to connect to the SG server so I can get back to the 120-130ms I would expect playing on SG server from Australia. I believe those on Internode maybe in the same situation while TPG users don't have this issue. |

Just as an additional update to this, the instability could be caused by a cut international cable as outlined here: http://www.iinet.net.au/status/fault.php?id=2295154
Based on the timeline here don't play on the SG server until the 26th/27th when this is fixed and just play on the US server instead. This still doesn't necessarily explain the incorrect routing resulting in higher latency unless that was the only cable going out that way but they usually have redundancies in place for this sort of reason.
