Best gateway for someone from Australia?

Hey just bought the $15 supporter pack and downloaded the game and wondering which gateway would be best for me so there is less ping etc, thanks.

I'm in Sydney (Optus) and find that the America region gives me about 20-30 ping less than Singapore. Average ping is pretty much dead on 200 ping forAmerica, about 230-250 for Singapore :) Last edited by sd3mon#1695 on Aug 13, 2012, 7:28:46 AM

I definitely agree with you - each patch is making this game better and better.
If you wanted to compare regions, you can press F1 in game to get some graphs with how your FPS and ping are going. From memory, the ping graph is the one on the far left (measured in ms). |

Give both servers a try.
I have about 100 ping less on the Singapore server than the American server (Australian here), so it just depends on your ISP. "Minions of your minions are your minion's minions, not your minions." - Mark

I'm in Sydney, using Internode. I get roughly 70 less ping on the Singapore server than the American, but when I play with friends on the other servers, their ping goes through the roof.
So usually I play on the American server with 220-230 ping. After years of playing D2 HC with that sort of ping, I've learned how to play 'around' it. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

" Yeah just played tonight to level 10 on the american server and really wasn't too bad at all, that ping for me is pretty normal because I played on the americas server on diablo 3 and always had between 199-225 ping so its not so different really, and im enjoying the ranger class with lightning arrow and poison arrow :). Knowledge is power.

At the exploration site I work in (WA) I get ~850 to US and ~680-750 on Singapore
At home with TPG I get as low as 80 to Singapore and 150-200 to US. I think it depends if you're eastern or western states. D1 - PvM D2 - PvM/PvP D3 - MvM (Money vs Monster)
