About boots and movement speed:

I propose modifying the movement speed affix as a possible roll to boots, and making boots itself roll movement speed as a implicit mod.

Why? Because as is, movement speed on boots as a mod is mandatory for group play, and because of that, no movement speed boots, even if with good other mods, are considered bad boots by defaut. This leads to good rare boots being super rare, as movement speed rolls are not common.

what i mean is, if i have a pair of boots that gives now 30% movement speed, i would have a +10% more movement speed roll instead.

Then movement speed would be distributed along boot tiers like so:

pure Evasion, energy shield and evasion/energy shield boots having the highest possible movement speed range; say 15%-30%

armor/es, armor/eva rolling in the 10%-25% range,

and pure armor between 5%-20%.

A movement speed roll on a rare item would still be a very welcome stat to have, but in no way mandatory.

To the side of the topic, a bit, by with a point that ties back into it:

This is why I don't play games like this with randoms. Everyone is too damn hurried to just have fun. Either someone's mad because one guy has base speed, or one guy wants to identify items as he gets them, or one guy wants to sell everything he finds, someone is going to get pissed off because they feel someone is holding them back.

I want to farm effectively and efficiently too, but if one of the deciding factors is "hey, can you run slightly faster than default characters?" that's just effing stupid.

Better these games raise base speed and remove ALL movement speed boosts that aren't temporary buffs or proc effects.

I agree to the idea of movement speed being an implicit mod and have suggested this before. The speed of the boot is determined by type, Obviously dext boots would have the highest possible values given dext users need movement speed the most and int boots would be the next highest given casters also need movement speed.

It would also give blessed orbs another purpose. Movement speed too low on these boots? well use a blessed orb.

I like this idea.
And no fucks were given by Leap Slam and Whirling Blades.

How about increasing the base running speed of chars by like 40%? Then extra running spedd wouldn't be mandatory for every char. The problem is at 0% speed bonus the game feels like slow motion, and this also applies for attack speed.

While you're at it, why don't we all get +1000 base life too? It sucks that you need to put work in to gain survivability.

this would do nothing. Its like a car chase, doesnt matter what speed you are going, what matters is the speed difference between the two. The guy with the 30% mov speed boots will be faster still...

I have very mixed feelings about this.

Lottery stat that is required making the majority of items in a slot junk = bad

Making it easier to find great gear = bad

Taking variables out of the game = bad
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
I think the best answer would be not to change how movespeed works with boots, but to increase the number of sources of movespeed. For example, if we were to remove MF affixes from the game, I think movespeed would be a good replacement for the intrinsic mod on gold rings and amulets. In any case, I think a movespeed amulet, available at level 1, with (8-12)% movespeed as an intrinsic mod would be a nice fit, and complete a coral(red)/paua(blue)/green cycle.
