Make movement speed on boots implicit
+Movement speed is an absolutely necessary affix to have on boots at later levels. Why not make it an implicit bonus on boots, where it's maximum value raises depending on the item level boots?

move speed implicit on boots sounds like a great idea. Though leave GGG to detirmine how it should be done rather than just higher level boots have a higher speed.

That is an awesome idea, as long as the implicit can be anywhere from like 5% to 30%, at complete random.
This way, 30% would continue to be very valuable. |

Not necessary at all.
I wouldn't mind the change, as long as it wouldn't count towards the 6 affix limit. I'd rather have 6 useful affixes on my boots than 5 and always +runspeed. Last edited by Daemonjax#0396 on Aug 10, 2012, 3:49:05 PM

I'm against this. It makes boots unnecessarily better than gloves. Do you want to add an implicit attack speed/cast speed on gloves also? How about implicit MP bonus on helmets? Where does it end?
No, move speed is a really, really valuable mod, and it should stay that way. |

Actually this is awesome idea, it would finally make the blessed orb useful. I dont see reasons why not implement other implicit stat and i dont see why boots shouldn't be privileged.

" Boots are better than gloves IRL; I wear shoes/boots/sandals wherever I go, but almost never wear gloves. You ever tried to walk around town barefoot? Not pleasant, let me assure you. Footwear increase movement speed IRL. What do non-magic gloves do in real life... increased grabbing sharp/splintered objects speed? " Slippery slope fallacy is slippery. Boots could have randomized implicit movement speed that tops out at 20% on the highest tier boots, or it could even be distributed to where you must choose between a higher defense, but 2-3% slower boots, or faster boots with less defense. There would still be movement speed magic modifiers, but they would be in the 5-10% range at best to keep the movement speed in the 30% range. |

" Fully agree with this. If mandatory stats (and that'even a bit of a personal opinion) where always on an item, we wouldn't need other stats anymore... Or item hunts... |

" Err... what? Cannot make sense of statement. Mandatory in this context means "must have"... that is to say, in the current implementation, players must have movement speed on their magic/rare/unique boots and players won't likely bother with any boots that do not. This becomes a bit problematic on hardcore where boots also must have large +life on vita characters... or must have large +energy shield on CI characters. Other bonuses become very insignificant on boots because 1/3 of boots' magical properties are mandatory. Adding a varying, implicit movement speed bonus to all boots would force players to weigh more varying magic mods when choosing their boots instead of guaranteeing that boots with no MS are worthless. There's no reason that implicit mods can't be repeated on additional mods - it happens all the time on rings and amulets. So long as the implicit mods are kept low (1-10%), additional movement speed mods will still be extremely important.
And I don't see any reason why gloves can't have implicit mods for small attack speed boosts, either. Again, as long as those boosts are kept to a minimum. |
