Long loading times

it never been this long for me, it takes like 20-30 seconds or even longer to load a map now. i tried reinstalling but no difference.
it used to be a lot faster in the past. the strange thing is, mostly its taking 30sec, and sometimes it just instantly loads... also some more information, if a map takes.. lets say 30 seconds to load, then i still hear my party members fighting for like 28 of those seconds lol. its like the map is not even loading for that duration, just showing the loading screen. can i fix this in any way? its really anoying constantly beeing the last to load a map in a party while the rest is already bashing skulls in and far away from me Edit: someone advised me to paste -gc 2 behind my shortcut's property's, im not sure what it does but ill try it out and let u guys know if it works Edit2: ok that fixed it, i no longer hear the background sounds from the previous map playing forever and its like the game actualy try's to instantly load the map now, allot faster. Thanks for the report - we'll look into it! Can you confirm that removing -gc 2 makes it bad again and that keeping it in makes it good? If so, we're confused :)

I get this exact same problem as well as the friend I am playing with. It is like the map doesn't attempt to load for a good 20 seconds while on the load screen. Just background noises. Only happening since 0.9.11. I will test out -gc 2 as well.

I can confirm that the loading times have gone up dramatically over the last few patches. I'm using the same hardware since the beginning of my closed beta participation.

I'm having the exact same problem as the OP, lengthy load times and several minutes to even load into the login screen. Basically, if it involves loading it takes serval minutes. Areas I've already visited are loading near-instantly. I didn't have this problem before, my machine's the same since I was invited to the beta. But the problem has only occurred recently. I can't remember what the patch was since I first started having this problem.
Would Hardware specs be helpful at all? I tried the -gc 2 but couldn't configure that correctly. Edit: I forgot to add that i did try adjusting my graphics to the lowest but that did not help the load times. CGA - Community Gamer's Alliance Last edited by PriestinPD#0211 on Dec 2, 2012, 2:39:02 PM

It's possible your pack file has become fragmented, please try defragmenting the drive you installed PoE on and see if that helps. To defrag the drive, right click it and go to "Properties", then go to the "Tools" tab, and click "Defragment now..." then click "Defragment disk".

" After days of defragging, the process was completed. I logged into the game and was still having the same issues. Is there any other information I can provide that could help? Edit: Out of curiosity, I timed myself how long it took to get to the Loading screen with the GGG logo above it to the Login screen. Result: 11 minutes & 01.61 seconds.
