Timing of IIR/IIQ calculation

I run a low life dual totem build and take advantage of wanderlust's 100% IIR.

Sometimes in chaos dmg areas I toggle it on/off to be safe. Then if I encounter a rare I like to switch back to low life and get the IIR bonus.

If I drop my totems, then switch to low life, then the totems kill the mob will the extra 100% be calculated?
OR
Do I need to switch to low-life, then drop totems which kill the mob?

I have a feeling its the latter.

Vice versa to this - what then happens if I'm low-life, drop the totems, go back to normal life and the totems are still active and kill the mob?

Is this the same for spawning minions?
Is this the same for when party members join/leave an area?

I'm just trying to get a feel for what the rarity/quantity calculation is based off.

Thanks for any help on this.

you only have to be on low life with the 100% IIR boots when the mob dies, you can basically switch to it 2 seconds before it dies and youll get the IIR bonus.

You get the iir/iiq at mobs death, it doesnt matter when you cast your totems, summons etc, you only need to have the iir/iiq bonuses when the mob dies and they will take effect.
