Armor on CI?

Was just curious, I'm building up a CI character, but it feels like my Energy Shield gets blown up pretty quick since I have no armor.

My concern is, once I get CI, what's to say I don't get blown up instantly and just farted on for the last 1 hp?

Is there some secret to taking less physical damage as a CI build? I been playing off/on, but I'm still generally new to the "mid game" feeling of game-play.
the idea is to get enough ES so that nothing can blow you up quickly

if you are thinking about going CI, but you still rely on your HP to surivive then you don't have enough ES to go CI yet

Then why go CI at all, can't you just avoid going into chaos damage areas? (Note: I never did Maps before, so not sure if it's that easy to avoid chaos)

I will run armor/es on two equipment shield and either boots and gloves. I will also run molten with increased duration and other things.

I also have armor/es nods.

It brings me to around 20-25 range in armor and is fine for me.

Also if this helps, On my flaskes i use all quick silver with two remove stun, two remove frozen, and 1 shock.

AND

Leech to ES is solid.

I used about 15 regrets and some other refunds around lvl 55-60 before converting to CI in HC and while i have not played that guy in a month he is around lvl 85

Make sure your resists are maxed.

As for armour depending on the nodes you select in the tree some of them provide increased armour + ES % so based on that some stats to look for are hybrids items with armour + ES so you mitigate some of the damage.

Now saying that your main concern is stacking ES first and foremost to get a big pool some common examples are a ES belt with resists and + armour mod

I personally survive by using life leech to ES and make sure my main skill has a life leech attached to it "ghost reaver " because with a large ES pool you will very rarely get spiked down to 0.

Hope that helps

Use Iron Reflexes, Grace and Determination aura. That's a lot of armor from nothing!
Yeah grace aura is great if you can support the mana cost (I can't at least not yet )

Granite flasks are also handy

take the 2 body and soul clusters if you can,es,armor and allrez. Also if you are using shield, there are some very nice passives with +defenses from shield,or 3 nodes that can give you 90% more es from the shield.
