Elemental Proliferation Mechanics

how does it work?
only thing i can tell is it works great on groups, but how does it really work?
what does it do to a single target w/ no mobs around? nothing to spread to, so useless waste of socket?

let me know please if u know more (theres nothing in the mechanics thread). also link me the ele proliferation thread if u can find it, please!

best way is to try it out.

its monstrously synergistic with cold snap and high crit chance.

Prolif is one of the best gems in the game. It makes it possible for me to freeze Vaal in merc by using coldsnap on an add near Vaal so he get's the proliferation freeze.

You can use it on a fire skills linked with chance to ignite to spread burns. Probably the most popular use is to spread shock stacks.

Now think about how often it is you have only 1 enemy on screen. Probably not very much.

I like to note that this is most likely false or written by mistake. When ele prolif procs it takes into account the enemy it procs to as GGG intended this to be. If what this poster says is true GGG would feel forced to fix the support, which would be a waste of their time as it does not need fixing. Surely players would mention this as it would potentially be incredibly powerful and too useful when it happens, since there is no forum rabble on this you can be sure that bit information is false and I am sure solrach did not mean the freeze, more likely at max a short chill.

Imagine freeze mine since it does 0 damage it could freeze Vaal the entire fight, ha ha ha. GGG would be all over that, luckily they can ignore this false player rumor/ nonsense and focus on other aspects of the game. Surely Krip would have used it, remember his perma stun build and how that got fixed? If Krip is not streaming it, it aint there.

it's not false, or by mistake, you can freeze very high HP unique monsters by freezing their minions near them with ele proliferation.

The reason that GGG won't ever fix this is because 99% of the time that you are freezing something, you are also damaging it and that damage will kill the minion quickly. once the minion is dead the big boss unfreezes.

Freeze mine is the only exception but you'd have to have a *very* specific setup and *extremly* good timing to keep the minion frozen AND also damage the boss with ST only abilities in between freeze traps.

Don't try and hush things for fear of nerfs, the reason there is no forum rabble is because it's too difficult to abuse.

... because perma freezing vaal and killing him is not hard at all. With his damage the most difficult thing is getting the 1st freeze or any strike of at all, insane damage makes to hard to close in sometimes. If it doesn't get nerfed due to skill I am fine with it, but for me and some others it is the only viable way to solo melee some very tough content with no risks involved and the latter is a warning sign to GGG. I do agree you need some timing, clicking and key skills, but nothing too spectacular.

Funny combo is made when you use searing totem and you only have to spamm the mine... wait sorry that would be OP so it does not exist ;)

i rephrase my question:

will elemental proliferation add a timeframe/delay for the ailments to spread or will it only do so instantly?

just wanna make sure i dont link it to any single target attacks if it doesnt add more time to it. i think its hard to see from just looking at the screen.

I have no idea what you mean by "timeframe/delay", but enemies hit with elemental proliferation and under the effect of an elemental status ailment will affect nearby enemies with that status ailment for as long as it affects the original enemy.

It's not hard to comprehend. It basically makes your status ailments have aoe.
ah thx, u put it in a way i instantly understood :)

i was wondering whether they get prolonged or reapplied (but its impossible to tell on a sporker - since mine has low dmg i was wondering if i can added chaos dmg or lightning penetration gem for bosses / single target fights (e.g. curse immune ele weakness additional life rock golem or other monstrosities). will do that now, thx again to every1.
