Everytime? So you have not been able to play yet?
Gonna need your hardware specification....Please Use SPECCY. What I suspect is one of two issues..... Creative Sound Card. Intel GPU OS: WinXP SP2 32bit
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Ram : 4GB Kingston PC2-6400 5-5-5-18 Mobo: Abit KN9-Sli (NF570-Sli chipset with Realtek Audio) GPU: ATI HD4670 1GB HD: Maxtor 20GB - OS - Seagate 500GB - Games / Storage / PageFile Network / ISP: Wired / Cox Cable |

Try this...
RightClick the game Icon, select Properties, add the --nosound to the TARGET. Example: " But I am gonna tell you, your Videocard is over heating. Chances are your Updated your Drivers WELL past the peak point of the card. I would still be using pre 2xx.xx series drivers on that card myself. On your SPECCY....Under FILE > Publish Snapshot ... drop that link please....DO NOT POST YOUR TEXT VERSION...it contains private information. Only tip is to bring up your favorite Web Browser, go to iHeart.com, make an account, select a song / artist and enjoy :)
My sound works but I still like this...other than that until GGG is able to track down the issue, your soundless. Your cam is a Creative Device. Remove it and see if your real sound card appears. If that works, It will make me think that Creative has a Service causing the issue. We'll have a look over your crash reports and see what we can learn. I'd suggest running a Pack Check if you don't have a Creative sound card, as some of the sound files may have become corrupted. You can find it at the top of the Support and Bug Reports forum.

I am having the exact same issues. Here is the Speccy info:

Cam Chat HD Operating System MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3 Installation Date: 02 May 2011, 20:01 Windows Security Center Firewall: Enabled Antivirus: Disabled I do not own a webcam and my sound card is a third party generic model. It is a CMI8738/C3DX as listed in device manager. I am running Windows XP with an AMD CPU around 2GH and dual core with 2GB of memory. The --nosound option does allow me to go on instead of crashing. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. EDIT: I do have a pair of logitech gaming headphones that are USB and I plugged those in and I can play the game with sound now.
