Vaal Overseer

I might be missing something, but I just fought this thing for the first time, Ruthless difficulty, killed him, and the door to the next act remains closed.

I think I've clicked on every centimeter of the screen, portaled in and out several times, etc.

Is there a trick?

Sounds like a bug, you might have to kill him again. If you can think of any other information that might be relevant, please post it here.

Thank you. I did kill him again, and the door opened as normal.

Shadow, lvl 49 or 50 for the fight. Skeletons and zombies, two ice spear totems. I probably did not personally damage him the first go round, pets killed him. Skels are equipped with culling strike.

I zoned back and forth to town several times, hoping the door would open on zone-in.

The second time through I removed CS gem and made sure to nuke. Those are the only two things I can think of in the build that might interact badly.

Just had this happen with our Templar/Ranger duo. We were also only level 26 when we killed him which I think is below level for Cruel? Don't know if that was a factor.

I joined a party already in "waterfall caves"? level 2 and proceeded to kill overseer and was unable to go through the door. Level 26 at time, not sure if that is a factor.

Someone mentioned I may have missed a quest, log said all completed. Checked Oak to make sure, was able to dialog and kill him despite having quest completed.

Will try again tonight. (really need a way point closer...like level 2 pyramid?)

After killing the Overseer the first time, Act 2 was no longer dark, and I no longer had the amulet. Tagged along with someone who did and killed overseer a second time, still could not port. Had them use a portal scroll and I was able to use it to get to Twilight strand.

Was on VuVei. Will try another character tomorrow.

This bug happened to my husband. He is a lvl 40 witch going into ruthless difficulty. I did as another had suggested and opened a portal to twilight strand and he was able to port through.

As a note: We tried killing the boss multiple times to no avail. However, the very first time we killed the boss, he crashed as he clicked the portal within the chamber and tried to load ruthless twilight strand. Perhaps his character info was corrupted or something and the game thinks he went through the portal even though he didn't because his game crashed to desktop as he was loading twilight strand? Just a thought.
