[Fixed (sortof)] Installed openal32.dll - Still get 0xc000007b

I'd like to play the beta, but I still can't run the client after first install.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Professional, and my soundcard is an M-audio Fastrack pro. I'm not sure if that's connected to my problem or not. I've tried various things in the forums, but nothing has worked.

I read in a different forum to try using a "pack check," but that strangely gave me the same 0xc000007b error. Could this have something to do with how the program was complied, and I simply don't have the correct recompile program installed (.net framework, etc.)?

FIXED: I copied the entire "Content.ggpk" file from another computer that had downloaded the file, and the program opened up with no problems. This is odd indeed.

I'm following the advice of a previous post: Uninstall/reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2005,2008,2010.

EDIT: No luck. I'll try disabling my soundcard to see if that is the culprit.

EDIT2: Works on my HP 8510p like a charm (different from my desktop).

Any suggestions?

Describe EXACTLY when you get the error.

OS: WinXP SP2 32bit
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Ram : 4GB Kingston PC2-6400 5-5-5-18
Mobo: Abit KN9-Sli (NF570-Sli chipset with Realtek Audio)
GPU: ATI HD4670 1GB
HD: Maxtor 20GB - OS - Seagate 500GB - Games / Storage / PageFile
Network / ISP: Wired / Cox Cable
I've installed the game several times, changing the install path, etc.

When I attempt to run client.exe, I immediately get the
error "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)." (I was trying to avoid a TL;DR, but here it goes!)

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
AMD II X4 620 (2.61ghz)
Geforce 260gtx
Soundcard: M-audio Fasttrack Pro (usb external)
Single HDD

What I've tried:

1. chkdsk
2. virus scan
3. copy/paste openal32.dll from system32 to syswow64
4. vice versa from above
5. copy openal32.dll from client on laptop (game works on laptop, an Hp 8501p running Vista 32-bit)
6. Install openal from open source website
7. Remove/reinstall Ms C++ 2005, 2008, and 2010
8. tried running with "--nosound"
9. DirectX 9.0c is up to date

Some clarification: I've never seen this error until I've tried using this program. The second time I saw this error was when I tried downloading the "pack check" program which was recommended in another thread. I'm assuming that the same code was involved with both files, so this must be some isolated conflict.

Just another Question...what makes you feel or think it is the OpenAL32.Dll.

Is it mentioned specifically?

Does the computer have an actually on board sound Device as well?

Remove the USB Sound device. Reboot and retry.

You might have to copy the whole directory from the laptop.

1. I assumed that openAL32.dll might be the culprit only because it kept coming up on some of the solutions on the forums. I thought I'd try that first before posting.

2. The error is exactly as stated above.

3. The computer has an onboard sound device, but it's disabled (not even installed). My soundcard is important because I do a lot of sound editing work, which requires ASIO, MIDI, etc. To spare conflicts, I've disabled this device.

5. Done. Still error.

6. I tried copying some of the base files (everything except the large file), and the client didn't even run. I'm assuming that copying everything won't help. See above post about trying to run the "pack check" file, which made the _same_ error. <--- this makes me think that the solution is connected some kind of code/MS distributable that I don't have.

look up 1 post above your last... :)

I'm going to feel really stupid in a moment if DirectX 9.0c is the solution...

Edit 1: The bad news is that it didn't work. The good news is that I don't completely feel like an idiot. I'll restart just in case.

Edit 2: No change after restart.

Edit 3: Found and applied the developer Dx update in the "/redist/" folder. Still no change.

Do not forget to Update it...Its not an auto update application generally.
