Does Iron Grip benefit from Melee Phyical Nodes?
I know it benefits from strength, but what about all the nodes that say melee at the top and 10% physical bonus to melee. Would that also count toward iron grip?
If not could someone please explain how exactly Iron grip does work? |

No. It just makes the 2%ipd/10str apply to bows/wands instead of melee-only.
EDIT: Example. If you had 100 strength, then Iron Grip can be treated as a "20% increased physical damage with bows/wands" node. If you had 500 strength, then Iron Grip is a "100% increased physical damage with bows/wands" node. Last edited by pneuma#0134 on Jun 6, 2013, 12:39:46 AM

" Strictly speaking, it makes the strength bonus apply to projectiles of attack type (as opposed to spell type) as well as to melee attacks. The bolts fired by Lightning Strike are projectiles coming from an attack, even though they don't involve a bow or wand. So Iron Grip is a good passive to take if you are a high-strength Lightning Strike user. Same goes for Point Blank and Ondar's Guile: technically, the kind of weapon in use isn't actually relevant. The other way round though, it is currently impossible to perform a melee attack while holding a bow or wand, so bow/wand users get no benefit from 'melee' passives. (Also the bonus doesn't apply to Lightning Strike bolts, for the same reason.) |
