Confused about the lore

The most confusing parts of the lore are the name that randomly pop up in places and are never truly explained, such as Lioneye, Kaom, Hyrri, Shavaronne, Chitus, Karuis, etc.
Diablo III had the right idea of having lore journals drop in convenient locations so we could learn more about the enemy we were fighting. Maybe GGG could come up with something similar?

You mean like their latest game? You mean like the one's that broke all cliches like zombies vampires werewolfs dragons and dragonborns all in one series?Yeah, those guys had an imagination...not.

Not to mention skyrim main story was actually a side story.

Marceus Lioneye was a general of the Eternal Empire. his latest (last?) task was stopping the Karui invasion, but his forward camp - Lioneye's Watch - was overrun by the Karui.
you could say he lost the ultimate PvP against the Karui leader Kaom - despite having a 6-linked bow that always hits, and a shiny shield to boot - because the barbarian warlord had Kaom's Heart :)

Chitus was the last emperor of the Eternal Empire. seeing all the Undying running around Sarn, one could guess what happened to him. definitely boss-material for Act 4 :)

I mentioned Shavaronne in my previous post, and I have no idea who Hyrri is.

another key figure is Lady Dialla ("the Gemling Queen"), but it's pretty much self-explanatory when you find her. my favourite NPC in the game so far.

Shadow: That was fun

Have you played any Elder Scrolls game outside of Skyrim? If you have you would know that there are countless books in-game that explain not only the lore of that particular area, but of the Elder Scrolls universe entirely. There are entire websites dedicated to these books. I presume that's what the original comment was getting at.

Was this ever explained ingame though? I've read every dialogue option ingame (albeit a long time ago) and I don't remember seeing these stories.

well it's mostly scattered here and there. some of it even appears in the description of unique items.
but for the most part, you should talk to Dialla again. she's a treasure trove of information.
also, the old guy in Act 2, and the deformed guy in Act 3.

be sure to talk to them all about all topics, not just the quest-related ones.

Voll deposed Chitus i think with the help of Kaom.
Then the cataclysm occured, which was covered up by Voll's group (it was their fault)

After a loooong line of leaders Voll's succesor is Dominus and he wants to do whatever Voll was probably trying to do

Yes, it was, but I was kidding when I implied that PoE has any business putting as much lore in as TES does.

Um...side story? What do you mean by that, elwindakos?
