OP Thorns build

So everybody talks about build diversity and i tried to do some unique builds on my own.
I had a pretty ridiculous physical crit bow ranger was doing over 15k crits at lvl ~50 with shitty gear till i hear about the respect patch and i went into the LA tanky build with hp stacking I REGRET IT SO MUCH RIGHT NOW, i wish i could respect it back...well i can reroll i ques. Anyway i was thinking into doing this thorns build by making a really tanky character(ignoring the fact everyone is stacking hp anyway) i started to build and rebuild my build on the site's passive skill tree when after 4 hours of planning i searched Prefix Mods to see how much thorns(damage returned) i could stack when i find this INSANE OVERPOWERED NUMBERS: "Jagged 35 Minimum Physical Damage To Return To Melee Attacker Maximum Physical Damage To Return To Melee Attacker 25 to 50 " 25-50, 20-50 20-50 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously GGG ? 50 damage return is max? when monsters have 10-100k + hp late game ? Even if this mod would roll on every item possible (which is not possible btw) thats 10 pieces of gear x50 max damage return would be 500 damage returned like some streamer(wont name here) say thats KITTENS DAMAGE . So back to the drawing board thorns is USELESS in this game like many other mods. Just a thought if mods are useless noone even uses them why put them in the game in the first place? for diversity? thats a bad game design in my opinion. TL.DR Buff useless mods or remove them from mod pool simple as that. I have 783 builds in my poe.planner I played 3 of those in the last 2 years Please more 1 shot mechanics so i reduce it to 1 . But, but... Supreme Spiked Shield: 221-260 damage! Whooo! That can save the build by itself! And then Bramblejack and Punishment curse (which just got even more useless with the latest curse nerf).
So... yeah... you're right. Thorns builds are "OP"... :/ Alteration Orb Union Local #7

Thorns can't be a primary source of damage or the bots would simply over-run the game. It's supposed to be a nice addition to a primary source of damage.

But couldn't you do more damage with Shavronne's Wrapping because you can actually modify the lightning thorn damage? Yo, makes sense, dood!

Thorns are for those people who had an important phone call while some sneaky monster comes up all alone to hit you slowly.

I also don't know why the thorns mods are in the game, since they're only useful until level 20ish when the 3 damage that you're reflecting isn't worth a shit.
Abyssus + Bramblejack is the only way to make a thorns build, and even then, you're probably just gonna die in 1-hit. |
