[Proposal] Mastery as a Difficulty Layer

There's a real split in the player base right now when it comes to campaign difficulty. The major post on reverting to 0.1 has 77 replies (as of 4/11/26 10:40PM EST) with either statements of "agree" or reasons why POE2 needs to continue to change. This topic of "revert or continue to change" is even spilling out onto multiple forum posts on page 1. Observation: One rule set cannot propose a solution to satisfy both sides. The "continue to change" side want the efficiency and power of PoE1 (or say that POE2's campaign is tedious, boring, or already long enough). While the "revert" side prefers the slower, more deliberate danger of early PoE2. Forcing both groups into the same mode creates constant tension — every balance patch satisfies one and frustrates the other. The answer isn't better balance or get rid of one of the sides or force people to "change or leave". It's a complete difficulty ladder that gives every player their version of the game. " This new difficulty sits in the middle of the ladder by design — not as a stepping stone to Hardcore, but as its own destination. Death is expected but not punishing — the penalty is tempo, not character loss. I yield to the group on which difficulty level they would like to see. The light radius revival proposed in my "Dynamic Systems" post would be interesting in this difficulty as well. It would potentially add a meaningful layer of both danger and suspense. yes it frustrates them, BUT THEY STILL PLAY IT . remember this.

I read the post twice.
You want new realm, with difficulty in between SSF and HS (whatever that means). You named it "Awakened — Mastery / Awareness" I still don't know what does that mean. Am I stupid? |
