It should definitely be one way or the other instead of attempting or posing at pleasing both sides. The timers and names confuse the player base. The devs would be far more consistent if they removed them and made it completly FFA. I would respect them much more for doing that. Instead of how it is currently where people act like its a compromise to have the super short timers.

Actually to claify what I wrote here, when I say one way or the other what I mean is to go all out cutthroat or attempt at ACTUALLY pleasing everybody. Looting options accomplishes pleasing the vast majority of the playerbase. If they want to preach "cutthroat feel" "tension" "hardcore game" then go ahead and do that properly. Don't act like the system is now fair all of the sudden with super short timers. Don't confuse players by putting their names on the loot and then going "oh its not really yours, its FFA!".

Make a decision and stick with it. The game is essentially released. No need to ask for friggin feedback forever and ever and ever....

From his posts it looks like at least ONE reason he doesn't want looting options is because there will no longer be a bunch of crying in public games when someones loot is ninjaed. With looting options only those who actually like FFA would be there WANTING to compete for the loot. He admits to enjoying the tears.

FFA or even pseudo-FFA (current) looting - the vast majority of people feel uncomfortable when grouping with anybody other than friends. I don't group with any random people at all, I do not ever want to see my exalted orb go to someone else, simply because they were closer to the item than me.

The simple truth is this: You can't trust people. No matter how many times you say "gentleman's rules", it won't change the fact that such an idea is alien to the vast majority of people (I'd argue it's borderline abhorrent to quite a sizeable portion of the population). It's been proven countless times on other games with any sort of loot, and if there are any history aficionados, they'd tell you that there are even more examples of the lack of "gentleman's rules" in real-life.
So please step down from your glass tower and smell the deodorant-free sweaty armpits of reality.

Either go full cutthroat, or don't. like it's been said, don't lie about what you're doing.

You're not meant to trust anyone in this game, and grouping is supposed to have a cutthroat approach to it, hasn't this already been explained at least a thousand times?

So many kiddies that need to go back to typical cookie cutter MMOs.

If you can't see that this is a problem, you're helpless.

When people can't trust other people, they won't play with them.
And a game like PoE, partying up is what keeps the game alive. Soloing is much more boring, you'll have most people quit in a much shorter time.

I'm sure you want to be the best, or at the very least one of the best, but being the best of a tiny group of people is hardly something you can be proud of.

Also, was responded/addressed a thousand times that when you group with friends (aka private party) there is absolutely no "cutthroat approach to it" and also you trust your friends 100% and also the game becomes easy-peasy not hardcorer.
