Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

I'll admit I did not read a majority of the 499 pages on this thread, but my own quick experience playing MP is that I'll just play SP lol ... while I was tanking ninja's were stealing my loot. Nice.

The argument against loot options is twofold - I'm sure it's been brought up before, but I will reiterate for you. Obviously, these are opinions not 'facts':
1) adding options to change the core systems of the game will effectively force the developers to create, maintain and support several parallel games. This might not be feasible, given that GGG are a small company. I also seem to recall that they don't want to overload the game with a multitude of options, preferring instead to keep it relatively simple and elegant.
2) it would segregate the community even more than it is now - this is also why adding several different leagues with varying looting/respeccing/whatever rules might not be a good idea. Note that they are planning to add custom/paid leagues with custom rules, but they have also stated that these customisations will only facilitate making the game harder not easier. :)

Yes, it is based on the distance. :)

The white items filter was removed very recently, see Brian's post here - his reasoning was that many white items are actually more valuable than rares/currency:

Maintain and support several parallel games?

There is probably function, that sends loot info to all players in group. Just modify it to sent loot info only to random player. It would be like 5 lines of code. Also server and client will save bandwitch.

Community is already segregated, because of current loot system between players that play in singleplayer only, multiplayer with house rules (no nijas etc), multiplayer with FFA. Adding option for loot distribution brings more players into multiplayer.

Why i support thies game whit Money?

GGG support now they they think stealing loot from others are ok.

And many write it, GGG want it so.
Try your own build, rerolling again and again, more fun than Maps.
Has anyone suggested dice rolls yet?I'd rather not go through 500 pages.Basically,if someone tries to pick up a non-white item,you should get an option to choose need,greed or pass and then the game rolls for you.Anyone that has played an MMO should be familiar with this.I suppose there would be a problem with item pop-ups cluttering the screen though.

Awsome that you call me a Kiddo, I like that - given that I am 29 this may, got 2 kids, 2 dogs a house and a bunch of other things, but I guess that we got a internet tough guy that just likes to tag people with whatever makes him feel better inside or more valid to his own point.

The main problem in this, is that people dont know how to adjust to a new set of rules, TL2 and Diablo 3 had instanced Loot, I liked it - but these are not the rules that apply here, the devs already stated that they want a more fast past gameplay, even surrounding loot, what people decide to do is up to them.

Why do you want to play with people that just stop when a mob is about to die and wait for the loot, I mean, how freaking slow do you have to be to get your loot. I play a Ranger, I always get my loot, not missed out on anything one time - Why, because I accept the rules and I play accordingly. The mindset is different when people just get together on a game, none really cares about what the other thinks or how they feel about xx event in a situation, they just do whatever they feel, thats the main problem, not the loot rules.

Make a ruleset to the group if you feel like it, that the loot, even if the timer runs out, remains allocated to the player that got it the first place and its no go for others - Ive been in a few of these and it was a great experience, a few broke the rules and they got kicked, simple, easy.

If PoE got instanced loot or that it had longer timers, it would take something away from it, Im sure of that.

Second, dont play with people that you dont know, if you do - you might get bummed out in some way or another, then just ignore people and leave or kick them from the party, nowhere does this game force you to play with other players all the time.

I just dont get why there has to be this much fuzz about it, maybe its my age I dont know.

Oh yes, one last thing - could you take that "kiddo" attitude and flush it ? - Its getting old.
Well i would say 1sec aint enough make it 2 second and it be perfect.. i got a meele now and even i stand right next to the item and i click it as fast as i can. i don't allways get it. becourse of some wierd delay or i get blocked by player or a mob. or just looting lag?. well my own fault for partying with Random People right?.

But i stil suggest double the timer.
