The Allflame
|
Okay, so it was stated by Fairgraves that Allflame is a 'flame of ethernal life', so basically, the source of immortality.
Considering that 1) exiles are not really a naive people to trust some captain in the middle of some shipwrecks (marooned? for real?). 2) who in their sane mind will give away a source of immortality, given it has fallen into their hands? I just fail to comprehend why it's impossible to dump that stupid captain and claim the Allflame for myself. Especially since there are plenty of 'kindling material' in Act 2. Doesn't the captain say something along the lines of "Only I know how to operate it" or whatever?

" Can't be sure, but will check next time I do that quest. Even so, my character could 'try to guess himself how to use it' or 'throw it away in the sea so noone will get it'. Returning Allflame to Fairgraves it at the very least a naive act, if not totally dumb. Added: yeah, and why I can't take Allflame from captain after I've got rid of him? True, it'd be interesting if there were some other (balanced!) reward for not giving the Allflame to Fairgraves - more quest reward choices like with the bandits would be great.
I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out. Heard its twisted dreamed inanity In a whisper, in a shout. In the babbling cacophony The refrains are all the same: "[permutations of humanity] are unworthy of the name!" |

i though it would be nice if you could use it as a additional lightsource instead of giving it back you put it on your belt and it gives you some more light in dark areas (maybe even a green colored one)
maybe you could also use it as a flask acting like a vial regenerating 50% (maybe 100%) of your max life/mana-values over a rather long time (like ~10s or more) though it would use like 100 from 100 charges IGN - SunChaos, Syldra

I agree with the OP on this. Not a very believable sequence, leaves me feeling meta (like the story isn't part of the game)
The mysterious shadow in the warden's quarters, that runs from you and blocks your path - that's pretty good writing. Fairgraves is on the opposite end of the spectrum. --

I definitely would like some other options and perhaps a bit more information about this all-flame that might be gotten from other refuges in the camp, perhaps an extended history of the thing would give us more options, or we might discover them if we keep the thing into act three.
Also it appears that there are drawbacks to using the thing, and I'd like to know more about that too, after all in the battle fairgraves and all of his crew appear to be some form of undead. |

It came to my mind that Lady Dialla from Act III might know something about the Allflame. She's into that sort of magical substances. So if a player chooses to keep Allflame until Act III and gets another reward, it would be a nice twist on the otherwise naive quest of Fairgraves.

No that you mention it - yeah, quite idiotic to just give away such a (obviously) powerful artifact. Never bothered me, though, but now it kinda does.
Nice ideas you're having there for alternate uses of the thing. One question: What mysterious shadow flees from you in the warden's chambers? Never noticed anything. Bird lover of Wraeclast
