Just would like to hear peoples opinions on the Gold situation

So over the last couple leagues we ended up with faustus and async trade and over those league ive come to realize the fastest way to make currency in the game is to just flip on faustus or through async trade and buy gold ROTAs getting 1 million gold in 3 maps for a couple div.
I myself havent done this yet but i know a couple players who spent a day just buying gold and then flipping and harvest gambling and make 30+ mirrors in a single day maybe over 8 hrs. Is there even a reason to do anything else? Last bumped on Feb 18, 2026, 9:10:37 AM

Hideout warrior flipping has always been the most currency per hour by a longshot. This is nothing new and has existed long before Faustus was a thing.

You do realize that gambling is rng? Nobody makes 30+ mirrors in 8 hours every day gambling. It falls in the same category as people throwing out percentages based on trustmebro.

Trading will always be the most efficient way of making money. Though, not the most enjoyable for a majority of players. The solution is truly SSF-adjusted game without trade. However, trade is a central part of PoE and here to stay.

gold is something that only matters to 95% of the playerbase....
... in a game that is balanced for the top 5%. In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice.
In practice, there is. |

" I know... call me old-fashioned, as this seems to be an outdated concept, but... FUN?! I dont care about the most currency per minute strategies. I didnt farm Alva at its height or Abyss-Tower-Bullshit, I farm what I enjoy. Path of Exile offers like 35 Farming Strategies or different iterations that all produce a somewhat solid income and I finish every league with like 1-2 mirrors leftovers AFTER my characters are geared. And its fun doing so. Yes, sure - i dont have 14-mirror-decked out Penance brand oneshot-builds but even on a 500 div budget u can clear the game just VERY fine. If you feel some kind of jealousy towards people making more you are more than welcome to jump on the bandwaggon and do exactly the same with sitting in your hideout and swapping digits around. Lets see how long you are pulling it off until you quit a league due to pure boredom. The notion of "comparison is the death of joy" has never been more right than in comparisons like this. |

It's cracked, and they knew it would always become cracked, there was no way it would remain 50% no gold trade and 50% gold trade, people in general follow the path of least resistance. It was a method to insulate players (with the cover of controlling bot trade) and to make sure, they have settlers on top which spits out content that is worthy of your gold. You are doing yourself a disservice by not using it.
There are many ways we could re-jiggle gold, to be tagged with unique only, high value items, x amount of mods reaching x tiers etc. To significantly reducing gold cost for items under certain ilvls. Is gold, actually stopping bots from buying up items? Is it stopping throwaway accounts from running gold bots to buy items and then freely trade it to players? You have given up your independence to be reliant on gold for all trades, and that gold is used on additional content on the game mechanics, gambling, settlers and I wouldn't hold your breath on no more gold sink mechanics on the way. At least I was in control before, now I feel like I have to grind gold. |

" Good question. It seems like you need to have reached lvl 25 (on any character on that account ?) to be able to give orbs in person (in town) ? You need to buy premium tabs to make In Person trade announcements on the semi-automated Market. You need to be able to interact with Faustus to use the currency exchange, or to make Instant Buyout announcements on the semi-automated Market, which also requires buying Merchant tabs. You need to be mid-act 2 to unlock an hideout (or can you unlock it earlier by buying one ?) You seem to be able to unlock Faustus before Act 6 in your hideout by (trying to ?) do an (Instant Buyout ?) trade. But I suspect that this requires first unlocking Faustus in a related (also temporary/permanent?) league. (Ditto for the hideout itself from Act 2 ?) (BTW, In Person trades do still happen.) |

" Yeah okay buddy but it's far and away not the most common way of trading, thank you Sherlock. |
