[Feedback] Address Defensive Disparity: Proposed ES Nerfs for 0.5.0

There is nothing "fine" about evasion in its current form.

Playing an evasion / es hybrid ranger vs a pure evasion ranger is like night and day in terms of survivability. The pure evasion one will get randomly oneshot all the time while the hybrid one does fine.

(The above presuming about 2k life and about 4k es on the hybrid).

ES is the only defensive layer that actually works.

Nerfing ES is not going to stop people complaining about life, armour and evasion.
how can a character lose all life to 1 ?
Is it living on CPR but has that tons of aura (ES) ?
This is one of the main questions that come to my mind .

Nerfing ES will bring all the people to difficult play conditions and with this as a start, Devs will lower the overall monster damage. It's Domino!

Exactly, that is called balance. Some people fail to realize some nerfs are justified and good for the overall health of the game.

Except that's never happened. In PoE 1, GGG has only ever buffed mobs even while defenses remain irrelevant to the point the meta remains zoomy screen nuke builds. There's no reason to believe it won't happen in PoE 2.

We run the risk of repeating the same problems the predecessor has.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

And the winds will cry / and many men will die / and all the waves will bow down / to the Loreley

I think ES as a baseline defense is honestly in a pretty good spot right now.

What’s not in a good spot is the handful of glitchy/degenerate interactions that turn certain builds into a walking bug report. If those are the problem (and they usually are), then a broad "nerf ES by 25%" style sweep is just going to kneecap every normal ES build while the actual offenders find the next loophole in about five minutes.

Yes, ES pushes you into buying ES gear. That’s... kind of the point? Some form of defense has to live on your gear, otherwise we’re back to "I invested in vibes and hope" as a gearing strategy. Right now the priority is still resists first, and ES is the best layer you can stack on top of that. If GGG wants to address disparity, hit the specific broken interactions and outliers, not the entire concept of Energy Shield.
Instead of nerfing ES better buff Life points. Every Char depending on body type or gender should start with spesific amount of Life.

Mages should have zero bonus while warriors should have the maximum. Mercenary somewhere between....

Males 30% more Life than Female chars but Female 30% increased movement than Male.

Juicing fantasy isn't a big deal. The implementation from the other hand needs guts...

I support that as long as addressing the broken interactions and outliers brings down ES to similar levels of armour and evasion.
