Christmas 2025 was a dick move, GGG.
|
I just downloaded and installed PoE2, which took 5 hours and 4 resumes, just to get something that GGG has freely given since 2013 - a Christmas mystery box.
What's the matter, GGG - running out of them? You can't just give people who play PoE a mystery box that already exists in the game, you have to try and manipulate your player base with dark marketing bullshit? So I finally get logged in over there, and receive my Christmas mystery box. ...AND IT'S A SKIN FOR A SKILL THAT DOESN'T EVEN EXIST IN POE. Thanks for nothing, GGG. I uninstalled it immediately. [edit] I haven't supported GGG since 2013 just to have them treat PoE like bloated vaporware. Last edited by Obright#1785 on Dec 25, 2025, 8:51:18 PM Last bumped on Dec 26, 2025, 1:42:49 PM

" Thanks for the heads up about this, didn't realize it because I'm forgetful and didn't see anything new in the PoE1 announcements. However, you didn't need to download PoE2 for the Mystery Box. " Tested this out myself as well, logging into PoE1 and visiting the shop. While the Mystery Box doesn't show in PoE1's MTX window, as per the announcement, I was able to verify on the website that I received it. |

I did all of those things repeatedly, but never got any alert that I had received anything, or that I had gotten credit for anything. Even after getting logged into PoE2 I had to search and search for the mystery box that was supposed to have been given to me in PoE, only to find that it was completely useless to me.
What happened to the "Merry Christmas from Grinding Gear Games" message, with confirmation that you have received a gift like the last 13 years? You don't get it, because you supported the wrong game. I thank you for your response, but I stand by my original post. As a person who has played this game and supported it financially for 12-13 years, it's been a tradition I've looked forward to for all of that time, to get that mystery box on Christmas. Now I'm finding out that the game I've been supporting is simply an afterthought - they're literally doing the entire routine again, with an entirely new 3-act campaign that we're all just supposed to suffer though and support, just like last time, but for what? They're just going to do it again. I'm literally embarrassed by the amount of money I've spent in support of this game since 2013. I wish I had never spent a single USD on it. If I had known they were going to abandon it for another game completely, then I wouldn't have. Last edited by Obright#1785 on Dec 25, 2025, 10:27:01 PM

There is none such alert. U just get it.

There was ALWAYS an alert. It appeared in your chat window - IN GOLD - and was pinned there.
I have no idea why you missed it. |

" Bruh, you need better internet |
|
" Why assume the problem was on my end? It wasn't. |
|
" It's not an assumption when you provide the numbers yourself lol. 5 hours and 4 restarts is clearly an issue on your end. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Last edited by cowmoo275#3095 on Dec 26, 2025, 7:37:54 AM

Since you're such an expert, you probably don't even need to consult this list of HTTP errors, but if you weren't you might want to pay special attention to the section on server errors - specifically errors like "request timeout".

" Server errors are, by definition, not client errors. HTTP status codes beginning with "4" are the latter; meaning the problem is understood to be on the client's end (that's you), not the servers'. Server-side errors begin with "5". GGG do not offer first-party Technical Support.
