Guys After playing almost all day with no problems.. When peek hours started to show.. after 18:00 = 19:00 Local Time.. Prime times.. server started to act unstable.. started to show network SPIKES .. 30 ms.. to 200+ and that brings back the stutters.. So Fix your networking and servers.. More capacity.

Potential Fix - CPU spikes causing latency and occasional crashes
CPU latency was spiking every few seconds, even just idling in the hideout. Tried all the classic fixes, shader cache deletes, NVidia shader cache set to 100mb, reinstalled, swapped to less active chat channels. Nothing fixed the issue. Noticed spikes seem to correlate with background audio, after turning off the background audio in the config CPU spikes went away. Go into documents -> my games -> path of exile 2 -> poe2_production_Config.ini -> make a backup just in case -> edit with notepad. find the [SOUND] section and change sound effects from a number to false. "sound_effects_volume2=false" If anyone else is having issues, this may be worth a try. Turn up background audio see if it correlates with CPU spikes, and go from there. (May also be worth setting music and sound effects to false.) |

I have the same issues.
Constant lagspikes, CPU latency goes to 100-500ms, deadlocks, crashes. Terrible gaming experience. My PC specs are far ahead than official "RECOMMENDED" specs (i wonder if GGG ever tested their game on that spec, tbh). So if you set sound config to false, you play without sounds, but without lags? That sucks, tbh. Upd. That really helped. Gon no cpu spikes during map. I wonder if there is another way to fix it while keeping the sound, the reason seems to be related to sound channels or drivers. PoE1 nowadays looks more and more like a fan-made fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players. --------------------------------------------------- RiP PoE2 [December 9, 2024 - August 29, 2025] Last edited by judikator#2053 on Dec 26, 2025, 10:34:07 AM

So it's safe to say it's caused by EU servers being bad? I play on NA and never had these issues.

For those who wonder how to fix issues caused by the sound effects during game, these steps helped me to solve it by 100% :
1. Set channel count (sound settings) to Low. 2. Set item filter sound to 0 (Yes, that is big impact on performance) 3. Update PathOfExile.exe process affinity - uncheck core 0,1 (ctrl+alt+esc, then find poe -> details -> set affinity). 4. I also have vsync off but don't think that matters much. All those steps made from constant cpu spikes during playing to 0 cpu spikes. I had 0 crashes or cpu locks since then. Item filter sounds don't impact gameplay that hard since items are highlighted on the screen and map anyway, you will get used to it fast. It is way better than not having sound effects.
