Is this game actually fun anymore? It feels like it’s getting worse and worse!

I skipped 0.3 and am enjoying 0.4 far more than 0.2 so far.

Taking a break helped things seem novel again and I get like 1.5 leagues of new content instead of just 1.

What a shame you missed out the best patch since 0.1, the homo omen with the juggling of mod's tags was fun, crafted near mirror items last league, too bad the dev left a mess with 3.27 patch.

To me the game has improved every league thus far.

In the end, this league didn't even nerf particularly much. A few skills and some builds got nerfed a bit, like Lightning Arrow/Storm Arrow Deadeye. Removal of Omen of Homogenising Exaltation made crafting top tier items more expensive, but in all honesty, it was a bit much in my opinion how cheaply crafting top tier items in specific item categories was being done. Limiting the special augments to 1 per character was a big change - again I think it was somewhat warranted, as stacking movement speed and some other things was a bit obscene.

Then, it added a new class, a new ascendancy, and a new league mechanic and lifted a couple of builds to be more viable, most notably Toxic Growth. That's just content added. Even if you don't like this particular league mechanic, the other mechanics are still there.
It's not that bad, it's just unfinished and it shows.

Other than that it has 2 problems, one fixable, and one not.
The fixable problem: it tries too much to be like POE 1. We already have 1 POE 1 we don't need a second game. The solution is easy: make the game its own thing.

The unfixable problem: POE 1 players. They want POE 1 in a new skin. Easy solution: just play POE 1.
It has only the best Druid in the genre.
Not bad for an update about adding the druid to the early access.
It's getting worse with every patch. Bugs are piling up more with every league since they have such limited time due to the dual release schedule, that most lower priority bugs never get adressed. And the nerfs they apply are always way too harsh and often miss the mark. More skills end up in the garbage pile or have never left it. I did my second attempt at a build around stormcaller arrow this league and it's still trash. The 1.5 second delay on the lightning strike which represents the bulk of the skill's damage can at most be reduced to 0.5 seconds and that's only with heavy investment into reducing it, which btw comes with it's own disadvantages. Now try running a breach or a ritual with half a second delay on your damage output. And that's just 1 of the built-in disadvantages that skill has to overcome... Also, part of the recent nerfs to bow builds of course impact skills/builds like this as well.
They aren't taking a lot of the actual feedback, they're just doing what was always intended. Just look at that last pack size nerf for high level maps, stating it was much requested. Where ? I still read the forums on a daily basis in vain hope and i can't recall having read that enough to warrant implementing it. And what an awful decision. Maps have never felt so empty and boring. And as always, various stuff impacted by this nerf such as experience and ritual tribute costs were mostly left untouched and thus harder to get. There is so much stuff that has become a chore to try to work around that the fun is sucked out of it. Each time more restrictions, more limitations, more grind in a game that already had plenty of it, and less build variety.
My guess would be that we're around that point where players numbers will start to dwindle because, as someone here before me already stated, they're giving up.

Im having fun. A lot actually.
IDK if its really getting worse but, I'm for sure getting burned out quicker. There isn't much that makes me want to keep playing anymore.
There are far too many unnecessary mechanics. This game doesn't know what it wants to be. A character engineering simulator or an action adventure rpg. It ends up doing both poorly.

Too many conditions:

Hits
When shocked
When shocked from hits
If shocked recently
If shocked in the last 8 seconds
When shocked if shocked recently
When hit if shocked recently
When shocked if hit recently by a hit

Stuff like this.

It's dumb af.

You watch videos of people who have figured out how to tie all of these mechanics together with some kind of perfect synergy and it just makes you sick to your stomach from the massive nerdiness.
The end result is they're running around pressing 1 button and destroying everything on the screen.
You can do that in vampire survivors.
