Hmm…Something Just Dawned on Me

well guys you didn't miss anything, I watched that Clownshow and watched it again and again. They never mentioned Path of Exile, looks like it was just twitch drop.

So, GGG has a big announcement of some kind during The Game Awards. I was pondering what that could be, and I think I’ve figured it out.
They'll announce Path of Exile 3. Surely.

POE 3. It's going to be epic. We've taken what you love about POE2 and stripped it back. No more dodge rolls or long boss fights. Faster game play and more loot.

Don't worry, we didnt strip out the parts you love, in fact, we added more. More crafting, more complex mechanics! Its revolutionary!

Unadulterated sarcasm. I love it.

More please.
I poop, therefore I am.
I just want them to announce they have an entire new dev team! That would be the best thing they could do at this point. Instead they would rather just kill both games at once.
Interesting theory, but I am not convinced they will flip PoE2 early access to fully free just yet.

The current paid access feels less like a revenue move and more like a controlled scale test. PoE2 systems are still changing heavily, and opening the floodgates too early could make feedback noisier rather than more useful. GGG usually prefers measured rollout over raw player count spikes.

That said, I do think the announcement will be PoE2 related. My guesses would be one of these:

• A firm timeline for broader access, maybe a second early access phase or reduced price
• Major systems reveal like endgame structure or monetization clarity
• Cross progression or deeper PoE1 and PoE2 integration news
• A clear statement on how long PoE2 will remain in parallel with PoE1

If they do make it free earlier than planned, I agree the people who paid still got real value. Early access time, influence on feedback, and less queue pressure all matter. I just do not see GGG abandoning the gate entirely until they are closer to content lock.

Either way, Game Awards visibility suggests something concrete, not just vibes. We will see soon.

Jonathon is on record already, this past week, stating full release won't be until end of 2026, worst case early '27.

Not that a bunch of games aren't released in much worse state than even the directionless poe2, but yeah, no.
