i agree the penalties are not sufficient. and i disagree with your 20% penalty. that is far too little.

the real penalty for dying should be voiding the entire character.

hardcore mode should void your entire account on death.

then only can players truly experience a real hardcore experience and care for consequences.

Early acts should already carry a 10% death penalty, giving players a real sense of loss from the start. Once you reach the cruel campaign, around Act 6 after the first Kitava encounter, the penalty could rise to 15%. By the time players reach maps, after finishing the campaign, it should increase to 20%, then 25% for yellow maps, and 50% for red maps. Finally, at the highest levels, around level 90 it should be full go mode, where every death removes the entire experience progress toward the next level. loled hard about the pulse damage in Hive Fortress doing damage...

the notion you can level100 on a glass canon is absurd unless youve never juiced a map.

getting to 100 is as simple as equipping a shield and maxing out on block.

when i leveled my vfos zerker last league i leveled it much faster doing dunes with a hh and i literally did lvl 100 through maps.
doing 5ways is just lazy but only because people are doing those i dont see why people like me should be punished even though i die with the vfos build that much from 98-100

i cant reach lvl 100 with this exsang miner trickster build cus it cannot be built as tanky as other builds but thats fine for me and i dont see why i should wasting money for 5 ways

Even those squishy builds can be leveled quite easily through Sanctums. As long as you are able to clear full sanctum you get a good chunk of XP from the bosses

Yeah the outdated exp penalty needs to be completely deleted at some point. I can't think of a single game that still has archaic mechanics like this.
