How are we feeling about Monk in Act 1?

I've run the campaign a couple times on almost characters so far and to me Monk/Quarterstaff feels by far the worse to play until Level 5 gems at least
Falling Thunder doesn't feel good as a starter skill and the Level 1 and 3 gems all feel like complimentary skills, but something is missing to make it work I'm wondering if anyone else feel this way? And hopefully something that could be looked into for 0.4? Last bumped on Nov 9, 2025, 5:15:43 PM

Ice Strike monk is OP in the campaign. I put an Act 3 build in my signature because a lot of people at the beginning of the league didn't understand how to play it.
SSF Rise of the Abyssal Ice Strike Invoker, high survivability and fast clear speed. Deprioritize armor and resistances; prioritize crafting a weapon and faster start of ES recharge. Build is shown at level 47, end of Act 3. It tore through Act 3 like butter.

Monk skills carry Act-1 until Act-4 (act-4 has many cold res monsters)
- Frozen Locus and destroy it for splash dmg - Tempest bell + rage for AOE dmg - Yes Falling Thunder is bait. Do not take this until lvl-50 and jewells that boost attack speed modifiers With both you can be strong before Ice strike. With both you are only -10% weaker than projectile builds. Love my Invoker but Deadeye projectile spamming and Lich Essence drain spamming is still 10% stronger in terms of clear speed, in-build movement during casting. Meditate in Hardcore still premium. |
